For all you garter keepers out there with large collections and presumably older females, I was wondering how common it is for you to have an old female that can exceed 100cm in length?

Also what is the largest garter snake you have in your collection and if possible could you share a photo of you holding it? In the wild all I find are tiny males for the most part and i'm intrigued by how large females of particular species can potentially get and would love to see photos of someone holding a 95-110cm long garter.

I've got a female radix that is fairly sizable, she's around 300g but still under 100cm.

... Is Lacrimosa. She's currently just under 600g and about 110cm. She's a female T. eques cuitzeoensis (Lake Cuitzeo Garter).

I knew Eques got big but wow, that's a gorgeous snake at 110cm, what a monster! Thanks for sharing, hoping to see more big garter females.

I've seen a male radix as large as any females I've seen. About the size of that 300 grammer above and approaching 100cm (didn't get an exact measurement; we had it in the clinic to remove a cancerous tumor). The gender surprised me, for seeing any garter that big is pretty impressive. I don't know if it's just because it found a nice quite place with no predators and a lot of food but it was doing something right.

The eques species do seem to be the largest garters (excluding gigas). There are definitely larger females than my girl, Steven Bol has some T. eques scotti that are over 130cm that he mentions on his website. Take a look at Welcome at Steven Bol Gartersnakes - Steven Bol Garter Snakes (http://www.stevenbolgartersnakes.com)

Yeah i've seen his website before and noticed how big he says his Scotti are, I think they will eventually break the T.S.Sirtalis for second in length behind Gigas.

I'd love to see pictures of a 130cm+ Scotti.

Wow, that barely looks like a gartersnake. That'd need a pretty big enclosure to make happy if it exhibits typical active garter behavior.
