Majorica

Scalies are anthromoprhic herps, a subset of the larger group known as a furries. I'm going to guess most everyone knows what furries are already. I am often frustrated finding quality scalies art. Even more so with snake chars., because I prefer my snake chars. not to look too much like lizards and they often do. I don't like my scalies to have mammal traits, which they also often do.
I've drawn several scalies in my FA and DA galleries. Snake chars. have been interesting subjects for me. More then other animals, I've found I was looking at how they moved in order to get their anatomy correct. This meant observing some snakes at Petco ( the usual fare of Ball pythons and corn snakes). In general, there isn't much anatomy info out there for herps as one can find for mammal subjects. It's helped me to have real reptiles around and in that respect it would be nice to have more herps, but I wouldn't choose new pets just so I have more artist subjects( I can go to Petco). If my choices happen to overlap, then so be it.
Majorica is one of the snake chars I draw, she's a blue garter snake. I went to look for references to draw Majorica and stumbled on this awesome looking blue garter picture and decided to use that breed for my char..
Originally I paired Majorica up with a female corn snake char. named Saujica( Yes, I'm aware that corn and garter snakes cannot live together IRL) . The more I looked at garter pictures, the more I decided a garter char. would look cuter with another garter snake.
So now Majorica is paired up with a male red garter named Paprika. I'm bit unsure of his exact breed as there appears to be several breeds/species of red garters. After I decided I wanted my next garter snake char to be red, I looked around for references and no particular species/breed stood out as the obviously choose to use for the char.
