I have spent some time this year outside looking to see what I can find. When I refer to snake hunting I don't keep every snake I find, finding and photographing and occasionally testing myself by catching them is half the fun. I will admit that after finding my male eastern this year that I have brought him home some gals to share his place with next spring (post worming and delivery of any of this years little ones). I have been running 100% of spotting and catching snakes so far (8 for 8). But as usual I digress, I have gone to my favorite place to look for reptiles when I was back in my home town yesterday and no matter how hard I looked (which wasn't as much as I'd like since my gravid wife was resting in the car burning gas to power the AC lol) I could not find a single Nerodia. In the past this place has produced upwards of 18 snakes before, I did find a couple nice gals and brought one home with me but left the noteable gravid one there so she should do her part. Seems strange to me that this year the numbers are backwards for me, normally I find two to three times as many Nerodia as garters, maybe I'm just looking harder for garters or something. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just thinking too much lol. Anyhow I think I'll go grab the camera and go do some poking around and then grab some chow for the snakes on the way home (some are slower to finding tilapia palatable than others lol.

My wild population (T. radix - Plains garter snake) fluctuates from year to year. I also think they are great at camouflaging themselves so I don't see near as many as see me.

I haven't been able to get out much lately. Been moving to a new apartment hopefully before my pinky human shows up. Got the word today it could be next week. I hope to find a couple more girls for my hypo looking male. I was also hoping to find a couple water snakes to care for again, I found some pics of my old paid of Diamond Back Water snakes and I forgot how much I missed those two. Beautiful, hardy and reasonably large snakes. There is a group of people going fish collecting soon and I want to tag along and see what I can find in fish and herps. Also seems that my local variant of garters are pretty much about the least attractive ones I've seen lol. Ah well ugly or pretty I love them all.

Mission accomplished, Lil baby Corbin showed up Monday at 10:23 AM. So I'll be on here off and on for awhile as I'm still moving and need to finsih that up and help the mothership with the lil one as best as I am able too. I'll post pics of the future herper when I get some loaded on the lap top. I hope everything is going well with everyone. I was hoping to have some babies from my females but so far no such luck. Maybe they are holding out until after the move lol, I'm sure they think I'm a giant interupting their house to give them water and food lol.
