Yesterday I acquired a long term captive adult wild caught female luecistic eastern garter. She was raised by a young girl and has never been bred. She did eat a couple nightcrawlers. I put my male snow eastern in with her hoping they will breed and she will produce some babies in a few months. If so they will be triple hets for leucistic, melanistic, and albino no ery or flame blood (Tom I know you will like that). This female has very dark eyes rather than blue. In ball pythons there are blue eyed leucistic and black eyed leucistics and they are not compatible with each other. It is possible this is a different leucistic form than the current one in the hobby. Time will tell if they are compatible. I think it will be interesting to see what happens with the combination of melanistic and leucistic.
Enjoy

Most importantly this leucisistic girl is significant in that it may provide another form of leucistic to the hobby, but at the very least it provides another line for out crossing to keep leucistics going, but yes it was like a Christmas present too, I won't lie I love looking at her several times a day.

If his answer to this is she was lost in brumation then I'm going to be forced to start a thread about something that I've been wanting to ask for awhile, so Jeff? What is the latest on this sweet snake?

She accidentally got her head stuck between the tub and the lid, aka I accidentally killed her. I have a 6 month quarantine policy at my house and she was still in quarantine so not in my racks, so she was in a tub with a lid. I was sick about that for months. I had only had her for about 3 months and she was doing great and eating very well.

So sorry to hear this Jeff. It's almost unbelievable, but accidents happen. Somehow you will make up for it in a new project.

The good news is that I still have a difference female leucitic that I got from Scott and raised up from a baby and she is pretty much full grown now and hopefully this spring she will be 3 yrs old and will have a nice litter of babies...provided I can keep her alive another winter.
