Tiger developed a prolapse over the weekend. The vet successfully re-inserted it and is leaving stitches in for two weeks. An x-ray did reveal a calcified 1cm mass, but we couldn't tell if it was a mouse skull or calcified egg. The plan is to wait and see if it will dissolve. I've cranked Tiger's heat up a bit based on the vet's recommendations, and am hoping for the best.

We too are hoping for the best. Any photos of the repair job?

Thanks Steve! I took this pic of the prolapse while packing her up for the vet.

Looks nasty. Glad to hear that the vet was able to sort it and she is on the road to recovery. Hopefully it should be ok from here.

Another finger-crosser here. From recent experience - it's definitely worth seeing if the calcified mass clears in its own time. I played the waiting game with my 'Florida blue' eastern females and it's paid off.

Yikes, hope that mass clears on its own.

Any chance you can get a photo of the xray or if it's digital have them email it to you, then post it?

Glad they were able to stitch it back in. Hopefully there won't be much troubles with recovery and the mass. Good luck!

Thanks for the crossed fingers! There is a digital x-ray and I'll try to get it and post it after the follow-up appointment. Tiger was in cloudy phase when she got her stitches, and she may have trouble shedding completely where the stitches are. Is there something I could do to help with that?

If she retains shed in that area simply put her in a shed box for 30 minutes and shed that area manually.

Shouldn't be much of a problem. Shedding should go fine, it just won't pull off neatly in one piece. You probably won't have to do anything but afterward check the area and make sure there's no small pieces still stuck. It might break off there in which case you might have to help her finish by peeling the tail. But stitches shouldn't really cause any major problems. Just make sure everything from that point to the tip of the tail comes off.

Good news! Tiger got her stitches out today. No sign of infection and no obvious swelling or bowel obstructions, either. I'm hoping that her issues are resolved, but I'll keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't start straining again. She did retain shed but a shed-box did the trick just fine.

I also got copies of her x-rays in case anyone's curious. There's a hazy white oval mass up from the vent a bit that's about 1cm long.

Good news and thanks for posting the x-rays.
