Anyone else in the Southeast getting hit by the snow apocalypse? I've stocked up on 24-hour chest warmers from the hunting section at WalMart in case the power goes out. Mine all apparently decided last week was mating season, and I don't want a sudden temp drop to convince them otherwise  At least I only really have to worry about my tropical frogs and python...

So far no power outage. Definitely going to get a non-electric space heater for emergencies after this though.

I live Northeast and we are getting slammed hard this year. Just got another foot and still coming down. I always have a non electric back up heating source. We have 2 gas fire places that do not use electric and heat the entire house.

Wow 8o The reason we were scrambling for a heat source is that something this bad probably only happens once every five years here, sometimes longer...
Our power ended up going out this morning for a few hours, but we filled about 8 gallon jugs with hot water before it had time to cool off, and put the more sensitive ones into small containers beside those and then covered the whole thing with a blanket... It definitely wasn't up to their ideal temps, but they didn't get dangerously cold that way.
My oldest garter is completely blind, and flips out whenever he isn't in his tank (or even if I move decorations around) so he spent the whole time losing his mind, but at least he didn't freeze...

Poor ol' man, but you did good. We didn't lose any power here in W-S, but got a butt ton (at least for NC) of snow, around 8 inch for us. I'm originally from WI, so when I FB about "all" the snow, they laugh.

You tell me. This is my street last week. We've had record warmth and severe drought here all winter. I went herping 2 weeks ago for cryin out loud. Snakes were everywhere and they aren't looking good. Much weight loss. We broke our dry spell with a 40 degree drop in temperature followed by 40mph wind, blizzard conditions/blowing snow and temperature around 18 degrees. Visibility was about 10 feet. When it as done we had 10 inches on the ground. Followed that up with a half inch of ice on top of the snow. pouring rain and 20 degrees, yikes. 2 days later it was sunny and 60 degrees again. Now we're in the 50's with the pineapple express stretching 2,000 miles all the way to Hawaii and it's aimed directly at us. It's going to be at least a week of nonstop drenching rain. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest. If you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes.

It was very fine, very dry powder too. Snow drift on the wind-sheltered side of the house. Didn't shovel our walkway, we used a blower to clear it!

A big deal for us being how we're only 50 feet above sea level and close to the ocean, but nothing compared to the NE. Now, Stefan is probably thinking "what a bunch of wussies" LoL.
48 hours after the pics were taken it was all gone and a beautiful 60 degree day.

We have over 18" of snow from the past 2 storms last week, with more on the way on Monday. I'm just glad I have the time off, even if it is without pay.
