Ok, I must be the only forum member who has 3 pairs of snakes and no babies....
I would like to pair up my easterns; however I also have a Florida Blue. Can he be paired with an Eastern or would that be considered a hybrid?
Thanks for the input....

They're both the same species and subspecies so really not a hybrid. "florida blue" is a locality morph eastern garter. T. sirtalis sirtalis. Not to be confused with "florida blue stripe" or just "blue striped garter" which is T. sirtalis similis. In other words, your "florida blue" IS an eastern garter. It's just a florida locality eastern.

That's what I thought but wanted to double check. I've got 2 boys hot for the oregon red sided next door and I have a very pretty Eastern girl down the hall...
Maybe this time we will all get lucky...

Might be the same subspecies, but it's still distinct.

Agreed, but so are easterns in other locales. I like the locale specific stuff too, but to produce some of these awsome looking combo morphs as breeders we have to move outside some of the locales. Take the ery/albino or albino flame for instance. If we kept them all locale specific those two wouldn't exist! There is a distinct difference in most locales to some degree, but I feel if you stay in the same subspecies it's ok. Just my opinion!

I take your point, but that's not something I'd find persuasive. I can do without the morphs.

I know what you're saying and I love the natural varities too, but I still like the morphs as well!

Stephan, you need a melanistic eastern, it's a morph and naturally occurring local specific, best of both worlds.

The problem with melanistics is that they're boring.

They would be if they had the typical bronze colored eyes, instead of those dead black ones.

Ok, put Autumn in with Jesse and Squiggy. Immediately that poor girl was accosted. They haven't left her alone since. Here's to hoping for some pretty babies!
