Very impressive, Hilde. I particularly like how there are enough places for your snake to hide and feel comfortable, but it is open enough that you'll probably always be able to see your snake. Is that a commercially bought rock background, or did you make it, too? Good job,

Looking good, Hilde.
I do not think the snake will tip over the water bowl. Itīs made of glass, I think and that is quite heavy.

Thanx for the compliments !!!
I think the snake like his new house to, because he's on the move all day long:mad:
I made the background from polystyreen with a layer of tile glue (don't know if thats the right translation. I hope you understand what I mean:confused:

Thats amazing..what paint did you use?
I want to do the same sort of thing, but want to be able to wash the background, so need a covering that is both waterproof but safe for the snake...
That is brilliant though, looks great!!

Not to quickly change the subject... well yes, to quickly change the subject... Here's another really nice cage design with plans for how to make it (Striking Serpents/Boa & Python Photo Gallery (http://strikingserpents.com/cage.html)). I bet if Hilde's incredible design and these brilliant plans were merged, it would make an awesome vivarium. One might need to add a "door skirt" between the two sliding panes of glass to make it escape proof for garters.

I've seen many nice fake rock backgrounds Hilde but yours just might be the nicest one yet. I could probably get to the 4th step alright but I don't have the artistic talent to get the final paint colors right. Still, I am even more encouraged to try now that I see what kind of results can be attained.

Love the pool idea. I tried it once, years ago but I messed it up and it started to leak after a few weeks. I'll stick to working with wood! Nice job.

would it work to just buy one of those 2 inch deep pre-made pool things at petland?

It would work, but it takes all the fun out of building their habitat from scratch. :)

It's not that difficult to make, just try it.\
The pool is not tight to the enclosure. I can take the pool out to refresh the water. To be sure that the bedding doesn't come unter the swimmingpool, I glue 2 pieces of glass to the enclosure to function as a sort of frame.
It's easy to make and it works perfect.
