View Full Version : Fully grown?
I have a beautiful albino checkered garter snake, roughly year and a half old. I was wondering at what age they are fully grown? I've never had him sexed but I think hes a boy as I know females are larger and thicker, he is just under 2 feet.
I want to get him a new enclosure but want to find out how much room to give him to grow. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you ! xx

Welcome aboard.
At 18 months he's still got some growing in him, snakes continue to grow throughout their lives although they slow down as they get older. You're right a female will get bigger, if he is male he probably won't grow more than another foot (if that), a female checkered could easily reach over 3 feet. When it comes to space more is best, if you can fit a 4 foot viv then that's going to be room for a female and if you're right and he is male he's got plenty of room to explore.

Thanks so much for your replies! Ended up buying a 3 foot viv but if he gets much bigger will upgrade later on. Thank you!

Three foot should be fine as long as he doesn't turn out to be a she. :D
