Does anyone know of a garter breeder in Michigan? I talked my gf into another garter, but I'd like to pick mine out this time.

Thank you, sir. It's good to be back. I've actually been poking my head in here from time to time (as evidenced by my hognose questions). I'm pumped to get back into garters....I've been tossing around phrases like "carpet python" and "black rat snake" to my gf and now somehow a 3' garter doesn't sound so bad...... This is going to be a graduation present to myself next spring, so I plan to go all out with the set up after he/she is fully grown. We're talking large and semi-aquatic. Super pumped.

In the meantime, I'm trying to run down a breeder. I know the big guys and all their snakes look awesome, but I won't be able to hand-pick if I order online. I'm a big believer in that initial "connection" when selecting an animal. Anyone know of anybody in the Michigan/Ohio area?

Also, I'm having a hard time deciding between another red-sided or a melanistic. Garter patterning is my favorite out of any herp and the red-sided takes the cake for me there, but the melanistic easterns hit close to home with their natural range and they just look cool. I have a feeling that the easterns may be a bit more aquatic than the red-sideds and as I said I'd like to eventually go with a northern bog type viv. Either way, I want a big beastly girl. Anyone have an opinion here?

I only know of 2 forum member in MI. Both are more keepers more then breeders. Drop this one a PM anyway.
