Pics from the 1st annual Pacific Northwest Reptile and Exotic Animals show March 29th and 30th in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Got to meet people there i only knew online including several members of this forum. Ron's Reptiles were there all the way from California and even one person I know from the midwest was there. There were over 5,000 people through the doors and they raised over 2 grand for USARK. Had a blast. here's a few pics...

So hi everyone...coming on to catch up. I finished 3rd semester clinical rotations in nursing school and thankfully have the summer off before finishing my last semester. Then, if all goes as planned, I will graduate in December and take the RN boards. I just got hired by Bayada Home Health as a nursing aide until I graduate. It's a great job because I get to chose my own hours and take on as many or as few patients as I want. That means I can work a lot this summer, and then cut back when school starts again. This last semester is supposed to be the hardest yet, and the first three were pretty brutal! So send lots of positive energy my way come September please! Everything else is going well, aside from Cee Cee passing. My son made the majors in little league...he's playing for the Phillies, which is the best team in the league. The coach is a former pro player. And it's also awesome because the real Phillies are our home team :) He's doing really well and the team is undefeated 9-0. I hope everyone else is doing well! I'll be around on the forum this summer :)

That really sucks, Steve...sorry to hear that. On the money note, I may have mentioned that I got a job working for a home health agency as a nursing aide until I graduate. It doesn't pay a lot for the work we have to do, but I do enjoy helping people and it's great in the fact that I can make my own schedule. I can see as many or as few patients as I want, and pick the hours and days I want. Just got a couple of steady patients for the next three weeks working 5 hours a day Mon-Thur and 2 hours on Fridays. Will be nice to finally have some money. On a totally different topic, I got my first painful snake bite last night. My big girls Sadie and my dearly departed Cee Cee have always bit me during feeding time, so do my babies and one of my male easterns. Although they do usually draw blood, none of the bites have ever really hurt much. But last night I was putting Sadie back into her enclosure after she ate and she decided to start striking hard at my hand...got me really good on one finger...I actually yelled out and was bleeding a lot. Can barely see it today though. I did however tell Sadie that I am not speaking to her right now. She really doesn't seem to care...lol. :p

I channel surf in the hopes of finding something to watch with some redeeming qualities. Most of the time I'm disappointed.
I'm just wondering if anyone has notice what I have. I've seen a increase in reality shows that feature the killing of animals for so called survival.
Yesterday, I came across a show from the Discovery Channel called "Dual Survival" During this episode one of the idiots was out looking for food. Along came a rather small/young Porcupine. Too bad of it as it was shot with a homemade crossbow and then clubbed to death.
The word "killing" was never used but "harvesting" was.
It seems like our care and concern for wildlife is reaching a low, this type of shows certainly doesn't help to educate the public about conservation or animal welfare.
I'm disturbed by this trend and wondered if anyone else has noticed it or am I just over sensitive.

A can of cat food? I think not. What we have here is a can of human tuna with a cat food label over the original label. I took this can and a box of crackers into my classroom(after school day care) While my students were enjoying their after school treat my son and I sat down to enjoy ours. We said nothing and eventually everyone else was whispering "they're eating cat food" Finally one of the older kids spoke up stating "that's gross, how can you eat that"
Now all the students chimed in about the situation. At the height of the complaints I simply stood up and peeled the label off revealing the joke played on them.
They all took it very well and had a good time with it. As their parents picked them up they quickly told them of the joke played on them.
All this for a $1.00

This is absolutely great! I'm gonna have to do this at work now! HaHaha....

Talk about the luck of the Irish. I purchased a used Microsoft Surface RT off Craigslist. If was used but it great shape and such a good price I couldn't pass up. This will be the 3rd Surface in the house. They've been great for the kids to do homework.
The one I bought was working fine until I tried to load a microSD card in it. The card would load but not be recognized by Win 8.1. I contacted customer support and they did what they could. It turned out the card reader was at fault.
The good news is my unit is still under warranty and will be replaced free of charge. It's all boxed up and ready for a FedEx pickup.

The Marines is a fine choice of career. Takes a special person to sign up for a "boots on ground" armed force.

I'm sure there's documentaries about the USMC over on your side of the pond, but there's been a couple of good documentaries about the Royal Marines in the last year or so, including one that followed recruits through basic training. I'm not sure if the Channel 4 On Demand service checks that you're in the UK, but if he can watch them this series might give Kale some insight - Royal Marines Commando School - Channel 4 (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/royal-marines-commando-school)

Thanks Chris. I'll pass this info. along to Kale. Tonight he'll be doing PT with his recruiters.
He's always been up for challenges and the Marines will certainly give him that.

My fresh water bivalves won't talk to me. Every time I try they clam up. Then there's the problem of them not sharing, I told them they are being shellfish.

I know, I know, don't quit my day job.:D

Not sure what to say with this one. I know what I'd like to do but I'd end up in jail.

And this is sponsored by a Government entity. It's a any snake hunt. Yep, I'd get arrested for sure if I went there. Stupid people doing stupid things for stupid reasons.

Yeah we got a lot of those rattlesnake roundups in Texas. But in recent years theres been a pushback with rattlesnake festivals that are educational and bring out snakes to show the public that they are necessary to the environment. Maybe it'll catch on to other states.

And people wonder why legislators want to amend the right to bear arms. Some people are just downright cruel!
