Your serious?

Richard I don't see that settings anywhere

It's in forum actions/general settings. You can change the number of posts per page. We're only on page 1001 if you choose "forum default";)

Obviously, Stefan isn't using the default, so he's only on page 250

What's even cooler is that we are on post # 10005....Some woman walked toward me today in a store and she just kept walking straight at me and looking right into my eyes like she was playing chicken or something....like if I didn't move out of the way she would just smack right in to me and hit me head on in the face....it was very odd. Oooo...I have to get one too...and I have to have one to see if I need stomach surgery...I'm already having surgery on Jan 11th...so if I need stomach surgery, then I will need two surgeries...fun! Have you had an endoscopy before? They aren't bad at all.

kibakiba

I haven't had one, but the fact that the place I'm going to isn't one of my safe zones is the worst. My gastroenterologist is going to give me Valium to take before I go. Most things that require me to have anything done medically, usually end up with me having to take extremely strong sedatives. The one they gave me once was one of the strongest, but I was still wired up and fighting the tiredness because I was scared... After a really bad root canal, it doesn't scare me as much but... Having something shoved down my throat doesn't sound nice, and I can see myself puking from it! Haha.

EasternGirl
12-21-2011, 07:58 AM
Well...if they do it the way they are supposed to you will be asleep when you have it done. I've never heard of an endoscopy with someone awake...so you shouldn't puke. You should be completely asleep. You shouldn't remember anything. I have had three of them...I have a lot of stomach problems. I've never had a problem with one. Don't remember anything. I'm sure it's scary for you but you will be fine...trust me...I'm the endoscopy queen. You won't feel anything. One minute you're awake....then you're awake again and you don't remember the procedure at all. They can't do an endoscopy on someone who is awake...so it isn't like they are shoving stuff down your throat and your sitting there gagging. They don't put anything in your throat until you're asleep.

Ugh...I don't know what to say about that. I've never heard of an endoscopy being done awake. Can you get it done somewhere else? Ask them to put you to sleep? It's a bit odd if you ask me. If you can get them done asleep...why aren't they knocking you out...unless they need you awake for it for some reason.

No disorders here, every single time I find someone in my back yard, they are always doing something stupid. Unfortunately my lot is situated behind quite a few houses, and these people think they have some right to trespass on me, throw rocks at animals, set traps, discharge firearms without as much as asking if maybe my kids might be playing in the woods.. Hide out back there and have beer parties in the middle of the night, etc, etc..

"out there" people behave quite the same way, I should be able to take my family out and not have to be subjected to idiots, like the ones who shove a cart load into the express lane when I have one item in my hands, and then proceed to write a check, dig for ID, and "chat it up" with the cashier.

Or the small groups of teens that have to use "the f word" as a favourite adjective out loud at a restaurant.. etc, etc.

Just don't have any tolerance for it.

Half the time when someone rings the doorbell, they are selling something or here on a complaint.

We live behind houses too. Bunch of kids keep coming back here, and god knows what they're doing, they run when they see me. I see people every week walking their dog in our yard.. I yell WHAT THE HELL and they beat it for next few weeks but they come back later, which drives my dog crazy and pisses me off. The people over the privacy fence throw bags of dirty clothes, shoes (i counted 2 and a half pairs last time) random objects, and tons of beer cans. They shout "the f word" all day too, and have freaking parties with.... explicit... loud, bass-ey music, as well as shoot their guns, which psses me off since my sister plays outside a lot. They threw a printer over the fencer a week ago, and I threw it back.. they tossed it over AGAIN, and I threw it back AGAIN this time landing in peices. (that seems to have stopped them. You... didn't kill him and drink his pee... Did you...?" before they start laughing. It doesn't hurt my feelings like it did when I was 13, but it's more annoying than anything. I cant really walk down the street in my neighborhood without a comment about me being "goth". Though, compared to when I was 14, I've lost the piercings, black hair, chains and spikes. Actually, they are. Since I have irrational fears of being outside, I tend to focus more on the road and what they do. They go at the speed limit, never a mile over or under, and they don't take sharp turns or any unnecessary risks. Anyway if you're none the wiser as to what a pepparkaka hus is (Stefan may know, do you speak Swedish as well Stefan?) here's a photo - sans snakes.

Yep. Except the gingerbread parts came from Ikea, where everything is flatpacked. Hence "pepparkaka hus" from the Swedish labels.

Okay...first of all...I would like to say in the spirit of Christmas that I love all of my friends on the forum here!!! Now...here is my plan...since many of us do not like people very much, but we seem to like each other...I say...we start a snake commune...and we all just live together and avoid everyone else. Now...where do we live? Wayne has a lot of land...but we don't want to go in his mud pits or anything because he might shoot us...maybe Steve's ranch? We can buy one of those Uhauls with the Narcisse Snake Den pictures on it for transportation and John can drive us around...

Somewhere close to Ontario, please! :p

Well Chantel...you might actually want to just come live here with me...around here no one would give you a hard time about the way you look...this is a very eclectic and interesting town...you could walk down the street in a chicken costume and no one would even look twice! Now we did recently have some guy who was walking around naked...and he did actually get in trouble for that...

So...what does everyone usually do for Christmas eve and Christmas? We usually go to church around 6pm tonight and then we come home and I give my son one gift to keep him occupied for the night. Then we have a fun Christmas eve dinner...like shrimp and crab legs...yummy! Then...I read my son some Christmas stories and wait hours for him to fall asleep and then stay up late so that I can "be Santa" and put the gifts out under the tree. I have to sneak out and try not to wake up my son. Then he will wake everyone up at around 6am tomorrow morning! My family will get up and we will open gifts around 8am. My sons father will come over and open gifts with us. Then my sister-in-law and brother-in-law and my nieces will come over and we will exchange gifts with them. My sons father will bring his wife and daughter back over and we will exchange gifts with them. Then I will take a nap. Then we will eat Christmas dinner sometime in the early evening.

We don't do anything, usually. Maybe open a gift early. My dad loaned us some money to buy food for tomorrow, so today is kind of a shopping day, at least for food. If they grew up like I did, they'd be overjoyed to see even one present under the tree. Up until I was 6 I lived with my dad and literally got at least 300 dollars worth of little toys and stuff, then when my mom and him broke up were were extremely poor. I rarely got to have anything, any time of the year. I usually got socks and a little toy, or every couple years I'd get something from the people who give away toys no one wanted. Even now, there's not much under the tree, but we're better off than a few years ago.

He is giving and he cares about others...I think I have done a good job teaching him to be generous but I do spoil him. This Christmas he is getting a lot because next Christmas we are probably not going to have much at all. Finances are going to be bad next year so we are kind of going all out this year.

i agree that the extreme end of the alcohol situation is tragic and worse but there are a few up sides to it, for those people who don't go to extremes there are advantages to be had, like people who are otherwise shy or somewhat retiring can for a while loosen up and achieve a level of entertainment/enjoyment otherwise closed to them, my experience with my dad was totally the opposite of Waynes dad [god rest his soul] was a very funny man sober, but when he had a few drinks he could give Robin Williams a run for his money he was the total life and soul of any party
now you may think that these words are coming from a man who is defending his leanings for the demon drink but in reality i am teetotal not only that but i deal with drunks on a daily basis, like most things in life moderation is usually best with this otherwise lethal concoction.

My uncle, who was one of the people in my life who abused his wife in front of me, would regret getting drunk in the first place... Just to snap when something went wrong and say he was going to the bar to get drunk, just to repeat it all again. I can understand snapping under stress and resorting to something stupid, but to do it every day...

I didn't say you were going to beat someone to a pulp, I mean drunks in general.

Maybe in video games, hurting someone in real life, no matter how much of a good idea is seems to be sometimes, would only end in me getting in trouble, and being upset about hurting someone. Once a week I see people at my therapist's office with "mentally ill" kids, who are just the result of bad parenting. I'd like nothing more than to smack those parents... But that technically wouldn't solve anything for anyone.

Watching old Christmas pop music with a pomegranate vodka cocktail, while the wife knits another square for her patchwork blanket and the cat whines for his dinner. Take away the cat and it makes for a good run up to Christmas Day. Earlier we delivered Lightning and got her setup in her new house, we'll still see her every week or so but it's sad to see her leave.
Time to feed the cat and head to bed I think. Unfortunately (or fortunately when I have a 120 mile drive in the morning) there's no chance of waking up to a white Christmas. So, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!

Come on, beating people can be quite refreshing.

Yeah this along with drinking reminded me of something I would never have though I'd be doing....:p haven't had a lot of drunks around me, but a year ago I was walking down the drive way, (long) (and if you remember the people I just mentioned over our fence) walking down the drive way and this drunk old fool was singing or something over the fence a little ways up I had no idea what he was doing, and as I reached that point of the fence, the old bum climbed up and unsteadily perched on the top.... I was like UHHHHH..... Tilted his head my way still singing or whatever the hell he was doing staring right trough me, widened his eyes and started over the fence, which kinda freaked me out........

So, naturally, I gave him a gentle shove. Soon as I did it I regretted it cuz I could've really injure him, but nope... I don't think he ever stopped singing or even comprehended what happened. Hopped up, singing, and walked away.

Yup. That was weird.

My dad's dad was like Wayne's and I've heard enough to make me realize what it can do. And yeah, he died at like 50.

So. Merry Christmas.:p

The doctors last night were saying something about an ischemic something or other? Is that like a mini-stroke? The kind of pre-stroke they can treat before it turns into a bigger one? Because that was what my theory was when she started acting strange last night...she started forgetting things she said 5 minutes earlier and such. Thanks to everyone for the concern and well wishes. My girlfriend got talked into drinking a lot last night, threw up 47 times, passed out twice, and was in the hospital for a few hours. That was good at all... Not like her.......

Sounds like she should count herself lucky.
Alcohol is not a good choice.

EasternGirl

That's not necessarily a good sign...you would think it is technically, but it just means that she has a higher tolerance...which usually has to be developed by drinking on a regular basis and drinking a lot. Not trying to say anything bad about your girlfriend...just speaking from experience here...I was a pretty wild teenager to say the least...how I am alive today...I do not know sometimes..but I'm glad I wised up and that I am. Just saying you may need to watch out for her.

Drinking enough beer to put you in hospital is a tough challenge, consider the possibility that someone was slipping a little extra in her drinks. I know that they only incidents with myself or friends has involved spirits as well as beer and/wine. As a student I drank myself to puking several (many several...) times, although never to the point of hospitalisation, and it generally involved vodka or whisky.

RedSidedSPR

I don't know. Her brother came home, saw her passed out as took her to the hospital. Didn't necessarily need it.

EasternGirl
01-02-2012, 11:51 AM
Hmmm....yeah...the whole situation is well...you weren't there, period. You have no idea what happened. Bottom line...it wasn't good. If she threw up 47 times, she drank a lot. Whether she passed out or not or what she drank probably isn't the biggest issue...I think the biggest issue is that she let people talk her into drinking that much. In the end, no one held a gun to her head...it was her responsibility...to be blunt. There was probably a point in which she was too intoxicated to make rational decisions...but anytime we drink we have to know that we are accepting the responsibility for what we do once we are too intoxicated to be rational. We also want to make sure that we are around people that we trust if we are going to be in a state of mind in which we cannot consent. Sounds to me like she shouldn't be hanging out with those people and that she needs to learn to say no. Perhaps you can help her with those things. Not being mean here, Jesse....just looking out for you...because this does impact you. It could have turned out much worse.

Hahaha. Trust me, that doesn't work. I inhaled plenty of ethyl alcohol fumes while working in fruit juice manufacturing. The alcohol molecules only go from the blood through the lungs one way; out.

Not sure about the science in that...
Alcohol passes both ways through the lungs, so if you breath in alcohol vapour in high enough concentration it will be absorbed into your bloodstream. It comes down to how much of alcohol is in the air and how much is already in the blood, it moves from a higher concentration to a lower concentration based on physics and partial pressures of gas, there's no active biological function to transfer alcohol across the membranes in the lungs.
As for eliminating alcohol from the bloodstream, if I remember my med science correctly the majority is removed by the liver (about 80%), then some by the kidneys (10%), the the skin and lungs remove the rest.

You don't need to uninstall with the beta download...it just replaces the old version. Don't uninstall first...just download the beta...there was a whole message board about the crash problem...it started on New Year's...this seems to fix it...it worked for me. Happened to a whole bunch of people.

won·ky
- adjective -ki·er -ki·est
1. a. shaky, groggy, or unsteady b. unreliable; not trustworthy
2. stupid; boring; unattractive

Perfectly good English. Although I've only ever used it in the context of the first definition. Common usage would be more along the lines of "tilted" or "off-centre", something is wonky when it is slightly broken, for example a wonky wheel on one's wheelbarrow would have a slight buckle, but not so bad as to be unusable. :)

kibakiba
01-07-2012, 05:33 PM
The way I've her it was... For example, if my ex's computer was laggy, he'd say it's wonky. Though, he was a nerd when it came to pcs. If anything went even slightly wrong, it was wonky. I've heard it used as "unattractive" before... Like, him calling himself wonky. But, he was also that in an "unreliable" and "untrustworthy" sense (IMO)... Though he'd never call himself wonky for anything other than his looks.

EasternGirl
01-07-2012, 06:01 PM
I just use it for "acting weird" or "off"...like my t.v. has gone wonky or my computer has gone wonky, if it isn't working right...so I guess that goes along with the slightly broken definition.

Chantel...I have H.pylori and it's not a parasite...in fact we just got done studying it in nursing school. It's a bacterium that causes ulcers. As far as I know it can not spread to other parts of the body either...it's specific to the stomach. Google it. It's easily treatable...you just have to watch because it does come back. I have to get endoscopies now and again and have it retreated sometimes because it has been linked to stomach cancer if, and only if, it goes untreated. Untreated it causes many stomach problems...the worst being stomach cancer...which is actually very very rare (1-2% chance)...and they would have seen that on your endoscopy.
