anybody here watch "Dexter"?
we don't have cable, so we're renting when it comes out on DVD
not sure what season it's on right now, but we finished season 2, and season 3 isn't coming out for a while (don't anybody tell me what happens) - I'm already in withdrawal

on a happier note
the vet says that the two older lesions look great
just that the new one needs to be opened, so he's taking Drache back to Pennsylvania, and we'll meet up again at the White Plains Expo (the one I can get to by train)
photos of Drache's head as it currently looks can be pmd upon request
he also told me that my babies (he took the rest of Sammy's) are doing great and that they seem to be turning olive green
of course he loves the poster

I watch it. :) It's season 3, they've only aired 5 episodes so far. Don't worry, I'm not going to tell anyone what happens. :) Except if they ask and even then I'll just lie.

Oh, good grief. Remember the link about the lady who was killed by her retic here in Va? Well, Craig's List is now full of burms, rtb's, etc... some ads state that that is the reason they are getting rid of them. I suppose there will be a huge rash of dumped large breeds now...

 And they probably want like a ton of money too right? Gosh, people can be so stupid....

Interesting list. :)

I don't bother with lists anymore. If I actually tell somebody what I want, they'll buy the wrong thing or something completely random that I would never even wish for. I find that I get the best gifts when I don't give people any hints and they just give up and give me cash instead. Sort of irritating, I admit, since I actually get other people the things they wish for.

But I ain't bitter.

Well, as always, coming to you guys for a group hug. Have had a very stressful time at work... we discovered that one of the girls was embezzling... a LOT. A whole lot. Today was the day she was confronted and offered the chance to repay or... else. I've been dealing with it ok till today when she was actually gone, and then the personal side of it hit me... and I realized I've lost a friend as well as a trusted coworker... well, I thought she was a friend. It feels, anyway, like I've lost a very good friend.

I miss her. But at the same time, I can't get my mind around the thieving. And the fact that I didn't catch on long ago. How on earth can you ever know how to trust people?????

Lori, I just don't know what to say. I'm guessing, right now, you're feeling very raw and even skeptical of some of us here. Which is understandable.

Lori, I'm sorry to hear about that incident. When someone you consider a friend betrays your trust, it really does keep coming back to haunt you. I wish I had something to tell you to make it feel better, but I guess the truth is, people are complicated, and can do the strangest things at unexpected moments. I think I've stopped trying to figure them out at all. (and I'm not bitter about anything that may have happened in my own life lately. no. not at all. but that's a whole 'nother story.:D)

Sid, that's too bad about the snake. I've never had to make that decision and I hope I never have to.
Hugs to both of you.

Thanks everyone. Anji, hon, it sounds to me like you could use a big hug, too, so consider yourself hugged tight. We do go on, don't we... but these bumps in the road are really not something any of us need to deal with. Why people can't just be honest, do their jobs, and be kind.... is beyond me. Is that too much to ask for??

Sid, how terrible-- never thought about how often that might happen in the wild. You gave that guy a quicker ending than he would have had, so that's a good thing.

OMG!!!!! I just had the scariest moment of my life.... so I was walking around and looking for snakes when I decided to go and see if I could find any of the ones that I released..... well I released my snakes on a property that borders mine because it had a pond.... but this property has a fence around it....... so I kind of jumped the fence which I had dnoe a million times before and I was walking around with my dog when out of nowhere came this guy with a big gun.... omg it scared the **** out of me..... and so I kind of started to walk hastily away.... and he fallowed me... I was quite aways in front of him and in the woods so I hopped back over the fence and then he said hello.... and i'm like o crap what do I do now..... so he asked me what I was doing and I said I was just walking around... which I was.... so my dog comes up from wandering off somewhere and sees him.... well we thought my dog was mased when she was a pup bc she is terrified of men wearing orange..... so we just asumed that one of those guys that comes to check the meters had done it bc he was afraid of dogs...... so my dog sees this guy carrying this big gun and takes off..... and I really mean she took off.... so this is when he's still asking me questions and so I really didn't know what to do and so I tokd him meydog was scared of men wearing orange and he told me not to come back durring hunting season and so I go and start calling her....my dog has never run away.... anywhere for any length of time... usually when she sees men wearing orange she'll just bark and growl and back away slowly.... but she ran.... and so I wandered around and looked for her for about half an hour and I went home and called hor her from there.... well I guess she ran past my house..... who knows how far but she came from the other direction and we were at least a mile away from my house when she ran..... and that's going strait through the woods... which is not the way we came.... but so I eventually got her and she is like dying of thirst and for rest...... o yeah... and she is not a very fit dog.... she's fat... and can hardly even run since she had her pups and widened out...... but it was bed.... she's fine now... little dirty but fine.... me too..... aside from torn up legs from running through the woods.... and jumping fences....... but I learned a few things.......1. don't go in the woods durring hunting season...2. don't tresspass on nice days3. my dog was def. shot at/scared by a hunter not a meter reader4. my dog can def. run5. don't run from a guy when you're on private property6. typing on my phone hurts my fingers lol:p:D

Ugh... I ran into the reptile show today looking for a mate for my barking tree frog.
I saw one set of garters; tiny, tiny, TINY checkereds. $25 for norms and $35 for albinos.
They looked... not living. Ugh.
Maybe when I get my babies this spring I'll show them the true capability of garters...

I've learned over the past few years that it is important to know if the land you go herping or hiking on is used by hunters. If so, you need to ask around and find out what the popular hunting seasons are and plan around them, or go somewhere else. Most hunters are very safe, but its still not a good time to go hiking in those areas.
One of my favorite hiking spost is usually pretty empty, but opening weeks of deer and turkey seasons are a bad time to go.

That's sad. :( Last show I went into I picked up:
Texas Brown Snake

Hypo Reverse Stripe Carrot Tail Poss Eclipse (has some splotches touching around his pupil on one eye, could be eclipse, maybe not...), Het for Emerald/Emerine Leopard Gecko from the Trempers

Trio of Mad Hissing Roaches (ICK!)

"Non Feeding" Desert Patchnose that has eaten two anoles for me already

Adult Male TX Rat Snake in exchange for babies next season
and... I think thats it. It was a pretty big show and NO GARTERS!!!!! :(:(:(

I'd spent the past two work week working with on and off fever and chills. FINIALLY, last Thurs, I felt normal, which, of course, is subjective to the party in question. Saturday, while still feeling well, spent the majority o'my time in the bathroom... And then yesterday spent most o'the day sleeping - still no longer having a fever.

Last night HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE nightmares and today woosy-headed and just don't want to stay awake.

Until today, I'd been the first person at work to not succumb and give in to whatever this crap is, and stay home. Well, I went the longest w/o staying home.

I'm expecting tomorrow to be better - I don't have a fever - and should be able to function. I hope so because free flu shoots at work tomorrow.

But i tell you, whatever this is left our department down three people for two days! I just don't think I had it as severly as others because I was able to get outta bed. When I can't get outta bed, I KNOW I'm sick.

Anybuddy else around the country having weird crap laying people low?

Yeah, I know. LOTS of folks at work - three in our dept at once - out sick for DAYS. I think I had it but not as severly as up until today I could make it to work. And, actually, Thurs and Fri of last week I felt fine.

Truely I could be bad 'shrooms in the Ham Di Parma I made. I've been so queasy today and my stomach HURTS.

If she's anything like my boy was a sock worked as a deterant as long as we were in the room, but left alone he'd take it off imediately... we tried vet wrap, duct tape, anything I could think of and an e-collar aka cone collar was the only thing that worked. Enkneebuddy else have nightmares when sick?

Missed the flu shot - that was yesterday at work.

When I was working at preschool we had a woman who did not celebrate Halloween. Did this mean she asked us to not celebrate Halloween? No. The way she handled it was to ask for that day off and she just dealt with all of the decorations and preparations beforehand. Not that it matters, but she was from another country and I thought that she handled the whole thing very well. No one wants to make anyone else participate in something they don't believe in, but respect for each other could go a long way.

I'm an ignorant, ugly Amerkin and I've heard o'it...

And had I not, today was a day to acknowledge those that kept Hiltler, et al, outta the US. To honor the Viet Nam war vets that are so confused and hurt do to do what they did - giving themselves to our country even when going against pop culture.

To acknowledge those that fought the Revolution - and acknowledge what they believed in. Whether Red Coats or not.

Since the dawn of civilization, men have given their lives for the beliefes they hold dear, as welll as what their countries hold dear.

All should be honored for being willing to give their lives for their beliefs. Whether or not we, today, agree with their beliefs.

Man there so many things i can say right now but am not because when i get pissed i start to rip someone a new one..

My dad was in the Vietnam war 4 years of hell and being a POW.. He came back messed up because of it.. He cry's every damn time when he hears another person dies over seas.. The phones rings he screams and jumps on top of it all he has medical problems from being over there... He now has Alzheimer.. Don't remember much about the people around him now but you ask him about over seas he remember down to the last detail..

But you know what he don't regret going over there and facing the **** he was in because he love our country and loved the people he fought for.. He IS a hero my hero.. If anyone one think's he's stupid for it he defended his right to be stuiped a hundred times over..

And he'd gladly do it again... In a heart beat. As do the GREAT men and women do today fighting in the war for the USA.. Which is sadly more then i can say for some people..

Im on your side LULU

Here in Canada, the moment of silence is something so ingrained most of us wouldn't even think twice. We've been doing it since kindergarten, at school, at church, even in many workplaces I've been in. I've even had a bus stop for a moment of silence in the middle of it's route, and all the city buses with LED signs read "Lest we Forget" all day long on Nov. 11.
I probably would have been floored if I were anywhere that it was requested and someone denied or made a fuss over that request. Even the students I went to school with from other cultures never made an issue during this one minute every Remembrance Day. It's just something we do here.
I understand your frustration, Lu.

Just forget i even shared my beliefs with you today. If i have learned anything today is look after number 1. don't give a cr*p about anybody else and nobody can hurt you.
I have bit my tongue on soooooo many occasions when i strongly disagreed with someone, especially when religion is concerned (i am an athiest) but i respect other peoples opinions and just listen when someone wants to vent. Then why Stefan, is it sooo hard for you to show the same curtesy?
Thank you.

You will always find at least one person that does not give a **** about anything.I don't give them people a second look.
At work today we did have a moment of silence at the 11th hour.I could never imagine what the vets of the world went through.

Lu... (((((LuLu)))))

Christmas... Just another day for me. I've gotten my Christmas presents already, I think. The three Blues Brothers and my two additional Hoggies.

May be getting more tanks off craigslist for more sniglettes but don't think I'll be getting any more sniglettes - other than hoefully Carmello - until next year.

Christmas for me is a time to reflect on what I have now. Not what I had as a child, young woman, older woman. Too painful and I try to subliminate it.

So, I'll prolly do some fancy cooking, cuddle, hug and kiss Pigglettess, Kittlettes and Sniglettes and enjoy my tiny little home.

I am often concerned that I am not taking sufficiently good care of my animals
right after I posted that my lizards are getting the same offerings in winter as in summer, I found that in addition to the fact that good greens are harder to come by, I had suddenly gone into a sort of cold weather torpid state that made the extra effort out of the question
so I am feeling all guilty about them skipping meals, but then I picked up Gwennie today because she seemed so restless, and that girl is stout, and so is Retro
they can easily skip a few more meals
the beardies don't look particularly thin either, and a couple of the snakes, I'm ashamed to say, are overweight
I need to go to overfeeders anonymous
that was my food rant - not much of a story

Was it enjoyable James??

During the summer months, It's common to wake up and have people start filing into the park, and if some camp over, I could still be "working" well into the night....

But it never FEELS like work, if you get what I mean.

you must be exhausted, James

impressive, Kyle
I always wanted to truly understand chemistry - not just the parts I needed, to get through anatomy/physiology
pharmacology is very fuzzy in my mind because I've got no decent underpinnings
my chem teacher in high school was some left-over relic from WWII, obsessed with chemical warfare - never taught us anything basic
the little I know I got from photo processing and later on through the med classes
but I really want to get a grip on all the stuff with the atomic weights, and the physics of it all
I like looking at the periodic table and I think if I really knew every detail of it and what it means, then things like the Krebs cycle would be a piece of cake

to some extend
you get to put down several choices and rank them
I've been told that if you put down too many you may end up with one of your lesser choices
different schools have different admissions criteria also
the two at our top wouldn't don't even look at students who haven't put them first or second on the list
some schools are picking students by their academic performance, others are looking for other qualities
the two at the top of our list don't actually look at academic records so much, although Mikhaila could certainly get into any of the schools that do
our top choice is a school that focuses on collaborative work and a lot of hands-on projects and off-site science work; their tour was given by students who were awake and enthusiastic, and their admissions process is such that they invite all the kids at the same time, do something like a class with them and see how they'll fit together - looking for a good mix, I guess
today's tour was at a school that's more traditional in their approach to the academic material and additionally has a heavy focus on the arts
their admissions involves an audition of sorts
both school integrate all students and provide help for those who need a little extra
both are smallish schools, where one will know pretty much everyone by the end of the first year
the third school we're considering is one that's huge - very different
the draw is a fantastic drama department, but their entire approach is otherwise very number based - testing testing testing - scores
Mikhaila has the test scores and attendance records to get into a school like that, but I don't think that it's a good way to learn
