What do you guys and girls do with your snake's sheds? Do you keep them, toss them, hang them up, or any other things you might do with sheds. I'm just wondering because of Ekoh's first shed with me, I have it wrapped (from the top of the lid to the bottom) around a zippo and stretched out a little bit where it overlapped and was darker. I don't know if I will keep it or give it to my oldest niece (7yrs) who really enjoys watching and "petting" him when i have him out. One more question is there a way to keep the skin flat and straight after it has dried out or is it just stuck in the shape its in?

I bin most of my sheds. I've given a few sheds to friend's kids. I currently have one particularly good shed (all in one piece, nice and flat) hanging next to the vivs.

I think that once the shed has dried you would be very lucky to flatten it without tearing the shed. The best bet is to catch the shed while it's is still moist and lay it flat and stretch it out while still moist. I guess there may be people on the forum who haven't picked up a shed immediately after the snake has "vacated" it, who may be surprised to know that sheds are very moist and flexible, however they start drying at the head end even before the snake has finished getting it's tail out.

I toss 99% of them, but I do like to keep the first sheds my babies have when I get them since they usually come out all nice and straight.

i wrapped the shed around the zippo and got it to lay flat and i just took it off and its nice rolled and flat instead of all twisted up and that was done 2 days after the shed its still pretty soft and pliable

I used to save them...but having 12 snakes...I would have a lot of sheds lying around. I still have some of my first sheds in Ziploc baggies...and some of my babies sheds. Sometimes my son will take them to school for show and tell. Mostly I just throw them out now though.

My sheds get tossed. Too many to save!

I throw them out. All except the first shed from my first snake, which I keep in a glass bottle. If I happen to be present when my biggest female is shedding (fresh sheds are easier to "prepare"), I sometimes hold on to the shed for a few weeks.

I love to do exactly what you are referring to :P every once in a while I too "prepare" a fresh shed. i don't know why I do it.... I don't ever keep them very long term.
