i just looked in on Ekoh and his eyes are sooo blue they just changed today so i'm going to put a wet hide in his tank and hopefully he will use it and this will be a trouble free shed

You can wait on the wet hide until the eyes clear up, if you want to.

i already got it in the tank he has 2 hides so i replaced the one he was not in.

What are you using for the wet hide?

a cleaned out big *** tylenol bottle. i have washed it 4 times and scrubbed it with a brillo pad letting it dry completely between washes and it has some wet paper towels in it

That'll work, just keep an eye.. or nose on it that it stays clean and doesn't mold. Wet paper towels (if really wet) can do that fast, or if some dirty little brat soils the hide with poop... lol :)

yea i will change them out every day just to be safe and make sure nothing happens to his skin and scales

well he wants nothing to do with the wet hide im going to try and get some moss maybe he will like it better. i have a more pressing question, what should i do about the end of his tail (whats left of it anyways) where it is scabbed, is this going to cause a problem or should it come off with the shed? i will have some better pictures of the wound tomorrow as soon as me or my girlfriend digs out a decent camera.

Enok may not need a shed box. He may just take a quick soak in the water bowl and get the job done.

Ekoh, right. Sorry about that.
Looks to be healing nicely. Some of that injured tail looks like it will need to be removed or will fall off at some point.
Looks like the area I'm talking about is dead.

if you notice its only like that on half of that section it was cut at an angle.

i do like the name Enok maybe that will be the name of the next one

i got an update. well around 8pm tonight the power went out and they got it fixed around 1 am. well between that time i went to hunt some big nightcrawlers since it rained so much. i probably got 20 or more of them. well after collecting them i cut one up a bit and fed Ekoh and Bugger a fresh snack. after that the last time i checked in on Ekoh was around 12-12:30. i went back just to say hello and wouldn't ya know he shed probably 98% one big piece both eye caps, and wow does his color looks good and bright.

now there is a small problem the 2% is the tail wound there is a little piece or his shed left where is stuck because of the scabbing, should i try and remove it or just let it be?

If it's on living tissue I would remove it. If it's on dead tissue it really doesn't matter, removing it won't help or hurt.

How about a photo of what you're talking about?

well there is no need now between last nights post and now the scab is gone his tail looks good. im sure its still a little sore, when i got him out he was still a little jump when touched there. other than that he looks great.

i tried looking for the scab in his tank but no dice im just glad it looks so much better and came off with no blood or oozing infection, so all in all im happy he is happyish he has been running from me more and more

He garters can be that way. Nothing like the females in most respects. I think the females come out looking for food, then stay for some social/exploring time.
The males are like "If you don't have food or a lady for me leave me alone"

yea most of them time. when the power was out last night i have a Brunton headlamp i got from drinking to much mt dew,anyways it has a green led and when i used that he barely noticed me came to the glass flicking his tongue and roaming around. is the green light anything like red light as in can they not see it, or just not very well

also i went out last night and grabbed a good bit of moss from under the neighbors bushes and sprayed it a bit and set it in his old smaller water dish and he LOVES it. im going to need to get some more for him probably need to just go buy some lol

well i just to check on all the garters and see if i can get any of the newer ones to eat and hopefully get them all eating the same day. well Amaunet finally took some food about 1 1/2 worms today so thats good but i went to check on Ekoh i figured he would be starving by now, but i dug him out of his aspen tunnel and he is blue again and would not eat this time. as soon as he sheds this time i will get a new pic of the tail wound which should look much better

well Ekoh just shed 2 days ago and the new girls just shed maybe 10 minutes ago. Ekoh looks like he scraped it a little bit during the shed but i will get pics soon. Now the new girl, im not sure what to say, ive never seen markings like it before.

and what i mean is her "spots" are small and her dorsal stripe is the only one you can really see the ones on the side just "blend" into the ventral scales she is mostly green but her spots are a brownish red color. i need to take her outside with a good camera to get some good shots of her and the weird coloring. im so suprised how much that shed revealed on her

the last set of pics i posted are of a female i just found a few days ago i was wondering if she was a garter or not but im thinking so because i cant find pics of anything close other than dekay which she kinda does but doesnt lol

A lot of different kinds of Eastern's out there. I live in North Central North Carolina and we have Eastern's that look nothing like what I see on this site. They have the classic stripe down the back but the color is dull and their size is large. They are as large as that black snake I have been posting about.:eek:
