Today, I started a reorganization of my quarantine/lab room. Things had been piling up under a table so I decided to sort through it and discard anything that need it. Under the table was my first microscope which was given to me. As I vacuumed around the area I thought I saw something out the corner of my eye but ignored it as my eyesight isn't what it used to be, this would prove false as the incident developed.
Once I reached the microscope I picked it up and place it on a stool that was near me. I then moved a heat pad and light to a different table. As I sat on the floor working with the powerstrip I glanced towards the microscope which was sitting a couple feet away from me. Coming out of the microscope was a young wild radix. Apparently she had taken up residency in the base of the microscope. I yelled for one of my kids to hand me a camera so I could get some shots of this inventive radix. Photo #1 is her coming out towards me. #2 is her taking a worm and #3 is her hiding in the base. After removing the base cover she took another worm and I pulled her out. Such funny little snakes.

I do but I think it was just a nice tight spot to shelter in.

I'll get her re-hydrated and fed for a couple weeks then it's out the back door.
Not sure what good that will do as they know how to get back in :D

Funny you should mention that. I've had them come out to me while I was feeding the caged ones. Fed some of the wild ones that where watching me in the snake room. There's a small area between the cinder block at the top where they watch from.

That is so cool. I want to live at your house. What an interesting place to take up residence. The garter count in my neighborhood has gone down considerably over the last couple of years. Of course people come to me with their tales of spotting snakes in places around here...but it is always after the fact. Our neighbor found a garter swimming in her pool and posted a pic on facebook to ask me what kind of snake it was...but she took it out of the yard before I could go see it. And, there was apparently a snake sighting at one of the baseball games the other night...but of course, I wasn't there! It was apparently a large snake...wish I could have seen what it was...
