Hi guys...I know it's been a while...and I was planning on coming on tonight to catch up. But first, I have some very sad news. Sammy, the red radix that Steve gave me last year, passed away this afternoon. He had been having problems with a prolapsed cloaca. I took him to the vet today and they put the protrusion back in and gave him antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication. I don't know if it was a reaction to the medications...or a reaction to the vet putting the cloaca back in...he passed shortly after we returned home from the vet. I feel awful...I hope taking him to the vet was the right call. I will miss him very much, and Seeley is missing his roomie already. R.I.P. little fellow...see you on the other side.

Very sorry to read about this :( Try not to feel so bad, you took him to the vet to try and help.

Sorry to hear this Marnie.
Don't question the decision to take him to the vet, because with a prolapse a vets opinion and medication will have been the best option.

Thanks guys. I still wish I knew what happened. He also had a growth on the back of his neck, so it is possible that something bigger was going on. It just seems odd that he died so suddenly after getting medication. I talked to the vet tech that worked with him just now on the phone. She said she has never seen a reaction like that to antibiotics, but she is going to talk to the vet and call me back. I'm so sad. I will take Sammy and bury him in the yard today. Seeley is looking all over for his roomie. At least I held him while he was passing. I stroked him and talked to him so he wasn't alone...
