Hi Everyone, I don't keep snakes per say, but I lover garter snakes and have loads of them in the garden. I live in a large city, but have a flood plain that runs behind the house so we get a little more natural wildlife here than the typical city backyard. I've currently counted 5 garters in the yard this year and spotted my first one climbing in a cedar this morning. Looking forward to sharing pics and learning more about these wonderful snakes.

Nice to have you with us.
Here's a link to the forum care sheet even though you're not keeping any garters at this time, at this time ;)
Southern Ontario, probably Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis (Eastern Garter) in your area. We'd love to see some photos if you get the chance.

Hello and welcome from the other side of the lake. (Michigan,, metro Detroit)
It sounds like You are in prime t. Butlerii territory. Butlers are great climbers, and a lot of fun to watch, but they are heavily protected on your side of the border. You probably also have eastern garters, as they share range, with the butlers favoring the dampest terrain and the easterns favoring slightly dryer areas
