On 4/30/13 I found this nice red radix male in my backyard. On 4/31/13 he was placed in a quarantine tub so I could take a look and possibly treat that lump he has on his back. On 5/1/13 I placed a worm in his tub hoping he would eat. Later that afternoon I went to check on him and found he had escaped because I didn't get the lid on correctly. I felt bad because I had brought him in to help him and now there was the possibility he might die because of me. Since the escape I've done numerous security checks in the middle of the night hoping to find him.
Fast forward to this afternoon not 30 minutes ago. I was out trimming with my weed eater when I saw my dog Lucky up by the house barking at something. My first thought was she had found the female radix I released this morning. I yelled at her and then went to investigate.
Up along the foundation of the house was my lost red radix male.
From my point of view I'm one lucky guy.
From the snake's point of view he's got to be thinking the opposite.:D
He's back down stairs in a secure enclosure.;)

He really is a beautiful little guy, plenty smart too as he had no problem finding his way outside.

What nice luck and such a pretty radix :) Hope that lump doesn't cause too many problems.

I'm sure he'll realize just how lucky he is soon. If you get him healthy he'll make great looking little red radix babies. He reminds me of John, the little guy you sent me. (He's doing great and getting big)

Here are a couple photos of this nice male that was re-found in my back yard. I lanced the bump on his back and removed a small lump of something. Wasn't an infection per say. Cleaned the area out and treated with Betadine. Hoping it will heal and this male can return to the back yard.
Looking forward to his next shed.

Nice work. The only part I was confused on was the returned to the yard part ;).

I like finding surprises in the back yard. Still hoping to find an albino radix someday.

He's eating. He doesn't trust me enough to take it from me but the food placed in a dish didn't last very long.
I'm also going to start him on some Baytril (suspension liquid) as a precaution.

This little male is in opaque phase probably brought on by me lancing that thing on his back. Looking forward to seeing his bright red after the shed.
I'll post an updated photo.

You should keep him and name him Quasimodo. :)

What a difference a shed makes. Looked in on him last night and saw he had done a complete shed.
He's a fine looking red radix.
It's nice to be able to find them right outside the back door.:D

Checking the bump on his back tonight I notice it has reduced in size. I will get a better photo of that in the next couple of days.
After the exam he enjoyed a couple pinkies. Probably the first pinkies he has ever eaten. He didn't hesitate when I offered them.
The dark red female that was found on the dryer also enjoyed a couple pinkies tonight.

Here's an updated photo of this male's injury/infection. Looking much better in my opinion.
The first photo(4-30-13) is when I originally found him. The second(5-24-13) is today.
