I didn't recognize that this site lives that "long" now - in otherwise, it seems the be here since years - what a good sign :-)

Thanks Jason, for the work and time you spent and still spend in this community.

I've just been reading through this thread again and I realize that this forum has changed in the past few months. The membership has greatly increased and the post rate is tremendous! The one thing that has remained constant is the warm, friendly atmoshere...and that's down to you guys, all of you, old and new. You continue to be open, friendly, helpful and welcoming to new members. I think we're unique amongst online forum in this. Hats off to our members...love you all. Thanks. X

Well, we are constantly growing, so the number of posts and posters is bound to increase. I don't think this place has really changed.

I expected the atmosphere to deteriorate and conflicts arise between the members over time, but overall, I don't think that has happened. In my opinion, the fact that most active members are no longer in their teens, are quite experienced and are actually known by their real names has prevented much of it. Either that, or I think we might be witnessing a clear case of pet owners starting to behave like their pets. :D

Has any legitimate member ever been banned from this board for behaving inappropriately?

I hope you are wrong about expecting "the atmosphere to deteriorate and conflicts arise between the members over time". I have seen it happen before, and really hate when that happens to a forum. Hopefully things will not deteriorate.

Other then spammers, no one has ever been banned and I think that really says something about our community.

Hasn't happened yet and I think we have managed to prevent it by being so friendly and helpful to new members. :)

That's what I thought, and I agree. It does say a lot about this friendly little community.

Not by me, Stefan! But I ban four or five (sometimes more) spammers every day.

Well thank you James. ;) This is the only garter forum that I'll even visit anymore, any other ones are full of people who know nothing about the snakes and give false info, then argue with the senior members. I've found here that pretty much everyone knows the basic care for these snakes, and that just makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Also, I think it helps that our usually knowlegable members are willing to admit if they're wrong, or don't know something.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken!

I think our teens are a cut above the norm. As for dreams of mod duties....there's not much fun in it. Unless of course you choose to edit everyones posts to make them look like imbeciles!!! Mmmmm, there's a job for the weekend!

One of the things I like is, that everyone, even if he has another point of view, is respected by the others and treated friendly. And even if you're away for some time, you'll find a warm welcome here. You'll find the same family, just mixed uped with some fresh blood :D There are only two forums left that I visit continously - this is one of them :)

PS: I just miss one thing: cascabel, I never read something of her.
