The first litter of my 2013 season was born yesterday from T. sirtalis infernalis aka California red-sided. Ended up with 7 big healthy babies. The parents are the neon blue variation, so they will get prettier and take on more blue color with every shed. Already they have good red color. Second pic is mom

Very nice!
Imagine if we were allowed to breed San Francisco garters here where they belong.

Make that 8 big healthy babies found one on the floor in the snake room this morning. Hard telling how many I didn't find yet, hopefully that is all of them though. Thanks for the comments all.

That's great but I think that nails it down.
What they were born in wasn't baby escape-proof:D

How are they doing? Any problems because of their escape? Dehydration being my biggest concern with newborns.

When the females start having babies I put toilet shims under the tubs so they fit tight at the top, but I hadn't done that yet, but I do have all my female tubs shimmed up now :) The babies I found on the floor were fine, I did put them in water for a few minutes before putting them with their litter mates.

Found one more on the floor last night before I went to bed making the total 14 live babies, not a bad litter for Infernalis first litter. These babies are born much bigger in size than easterns or radix babies.

Sorry, I am kind of embarrassed to be having to find such valuable babies on the floor, a rookie mistake to not shim up my tubs and easily preventable, very irresponsible on my part.

I'll make a ham, some potato salad, and some mac and cheese and everyone else can throw in a dish and we can have a late easter dinner at jeff's and hunt easter eggs!:p
