When I left the house this morning I had a feeling she was about to pop. Her's was the first enclosure I checked on and saw little scrubs out. At this point there are 11 scrubs, 4 slugs and 1 stillborn(under developed and unable to break free of the egg membrane)
Most still need to shed so they look a little dull. I'm hoping the male to this pairing was my anery male. I'm not seeing a lot of color in these scrubs so I'm not sure if that is an indication it was that male.
Richard, your thought, please.

Thanks. I'm a little concerned about a couple of them.
They're just not acting normal. Hoping all they need is a little time.

I think you have a serious case of polymorphism going on there. You just don't see that with clark county locality breedings. You just see ones that look like mom, and some that look like fitchi and that's it. (dimorphism but all normal red)I've never had any other result from clark co locality breedings and I've had more experience with those than any other locality. I'd say your sire was definitely the NW Oregon locality and likely it was one of the blues. One of the babies looks flat out anery already. And I also notice I'm seeing side patterns much like I saw when I bred a NW oregon "yellow spotted" with these babies' grandma.

I think you have snakes here that are going to be different than any that have been produced in captivity before, or at either wild location. Seems that polymorphism from the NW oregon location just overrides the color genes from Clark Co because I just don't see anything in the babies that looks like what I would expect from mom/grandma's wild location. You got a litter there which is the result of two different localities IMO. I'll PM you with the specific localities.

Nice litter. I want to see how these little scrubs colour up.

Or down! seriously this polymorphism thing going on with these genetics is sometimes more than just polymorphism. I can't remember that "big word" where an animal is born as one phenotype but changes later. Well whatever the word is, some of these do that. Some (or perhaps all) of these adults which completely lack red/orange and turn blue look totally normal at birth. It's been observed. Seriously. Weird stuff.

Well just ask Gregmonsta. He observed it first. Then a "normal" baby I sent to Steve turned blue and lost the red/orange too as it matured. Also, out of thousands of snakes, I've never found a baby that was already blue and anery. Only when they approach sexual maturity do I find that particular morph. I always wondered why until I saw the miraculous change in captivity but I think Greg should be credited for observing and documenting it first.

Not a whole lot of color in any of them is there? I look forward to seeing new pics after they're done shedding and all cleaned up.

You know, that's something I don't usually do. They seem to shed out just fine on normal everyday substrate, (aspen shavings or fir bark) with the exception of one or two every now and then. When I know babies are due but I can't be there I just make sure there's a hide full of damp moss for them that mom can't get into so they have a moist place to get out of her way. I take it the wet towels just helps them shed?

Correct. Just something to catch the shed on.

I just had a clutch. The female was angry and the male was regular. What should I expect the babies to turn in to.
Thanks

Witnessed the first eating from these new scrubs. Knew some were eating but had never watched it.
Today, I gave them some chicken scented night crawler chunks and I saw a couple scrubs eating.

Don't worry. I have full confidence they will just all the sudden up and start pigging out. To get them started I usually just place a dish of minced fish and night crawlers in the enclosure and give them some space. You don't really have to worry about fights at first. They don't start that until 2nd to 4th feeding.

I don't even bother trying until they're at least a week old and they often don't eat until they're 3-4 weeks old. That's pretty normal for them. That's why I didn't start shipping any last year until they were 2 mos old. Many held out until they were 4 weeks old before they started eating.

Looks like everyone is eating, some less then other. All-in-all they are doing well.
