Apparently I'm becoming a sort of collector... Wandering around a pet store in Louisiana today, and I end up walking out with a ribbon snake and a grass snake. Or so they were called.

can you guys help me properly identify these babies?

Guessing the ribbon is a Thamnophis sauritus- Eastern ribbon and the other might be a Rough Green Snake- Opheodrys aestivus.
That ribbon looks very dry. Could use a little shed box time.

Congrats on your new additions! I agree with Steve on the ID's.

I must warn you though, green snakes don't really do well in captivity and most of them available in the hobby are wildcaught.

He's surprisingly chill. He seems to have bonded with my husband already. Once we get home and get them settled, I'm hoping he will thrive under proper care, because he definitely wasn't getting it where he was. I wish I could have taken the other 2 ribbons with me too, but I don't have proper housing for all of them. I had to point out to the girl in the store that one of them was severely dehydrated. His skin was starting to wrinkle and sink in, so what does she do? Change their water and feed them... Sigh.

Remember a good quarantine period. Fecal floats would be a good investment since both animals were probably w/c.
Search and find a good care sheet for the green snake. I'll see if Wayne(infernalis) has anything over on sSnakeSs.com

Here's some I found. I don't know much about the species so I can't recommend any of these sites as knowledgeable.

Ohhh thanks for all the rouugh green snake care sheets.
I see these at shows for about $20, but I haven't wanted to dip my toe into the whole w.c. and insect eating thing.

We have smooth green snakes in Michigan, but I've never seen one in the wild. Someday...
