I've been meaning to ask
do you take your snakes outside for photos?

okay
so I guess you have a big enough piece of lawn where you're not worried about loosing them
I've been considering taking mine to the park for photos, but it's scary
I'm gonna try today though - I found a snake-savvy assistant

Another, beautiful snake Don ... I too find that if you take the snakes outside the pic quality is far better and the snakes (usually) are not so quick to dart away.

enjoy your weekend !!

Hmmm, maybe your snakes are slower than mine, because they sprint around like crazy, especially the babies, and I can't imagine catching them.

Nice babie! Usually new born flame garter are orange, the red pigment will increase over their first 2 years of life. This year I found many newborn flame in a spot some of them were already red!!
We did'nt find any adult in this spot ,too late in mid september.Ithink most adult flame garter are blood red in this location.

Usually in other spot, only a certain pourcentage of adult flame are red ,most of them are orange(adult).
You never know if a new born wild caught flame will turn red as adult .
Most captive bred flame will turn apple red ,some (rusty or burgundy).

I m always interresting the see the evolution of baby flame garter 'i appreciate if you show me a couple of picture until 3 years old. tanks

I have a friend who ships bearded dragons and will ask her how she does it. I will also ask some snake breeders on a texas reptile forum that I'm on. Or you can probably find one in your area. Keep me posted. I'll hold one for you in the mean time ; )

yea me to!!!
unless there are some shops here that have garters , but most of the shops here have balls and corns!!
or the common ribbon type I think I would like a checkered one or something with color!!
so I will keep you in mind come spring!!
thanks so much!!!!

Cool yall :)

I'll figure out what I've got and unless they're all girls, lol, we'll be good to go.

They're sweeties. I handle them daily and not a one has tried to strike me.

I'm in Texas and they just published a new black list of critters that cannot be sold. So all you'll need to pay for is the shipping costs. Course, if you want to make a small contribution to my rescue efforts, I wouldn't complain, lol ;)

I'll take more pics of them soon :)

salzar
12-04-2007, 03:51 PM
shipping and a small contribution is not out of the question for me.
so count me in as of now, unless something happens that prevents me from getting one!!
okay cool come on spring . right now we have a foot of snow outside!!!
sal looked out the window and curled up tightly to my hand and seemed to not like the shear brightness of the snow!!
poor thing, me either!!!
bye

At least you've got some snow! I keep praying for the stuff, and all the storms go right around us.

Wish I could get some of those checkered babies shipped here, but customs doesn't like things like that coming through.......;)

tikichick
12-04-2007, 05:24 PM
Yeah, that's a bummer. Snakes don't know boundaries! Lol. It's all the same continent anyway :p

anji1971
12-04-2007, 05:46 PM
Bet that won't go over at the border though!
Ah well, someday somebody in Canada will breed all the snakes I want....maybe!

tikichick
12-04-2007, 05:50 PM
Maybe a pet store could import them for you? It'd be more expensive, but you could get you a breeding pair and take care of that shortage, lol.

anji1971
12-04-2007, 10:04 PM
Oh, if I ever move into a bit bigger house, it's the first thing on my agenda to look into--I'd love to be able to provide a couple different varieties for Canadians.
Alas, it doesn't look like I'm moving anytime soon, so I hope someone else out there gets started. Some Pugets, and Tetrataenia, perhaps???? Anyone???

BTW, I actually may have a lead on someone in the pet store, just have to find him working when I go in there, so far no luck.

tikichick

Well best of luck to you! :)
