On Monday I woke up to one half of my pillow being extremely warm due to the sunlight shining through my window. After 5 snake-less(wild) months, I knew this weather would be a reason to go to the Provincial Park down the road. Between 1 and 1:30 pm, I found 3 pickeringii and 2 ordinoides all within 50 meters of each other. The first of the year for me. One female pickeringii, and all other snakes were males. Ive got pics, they just need to convert files and transfer from my phone to my computer, comin up soon :)

The conversions were a failure. Its a good thing I observe every snake I find for at least a week. Im taking more pictures with my laptop now

ahahaha. Id be trolling my self too :P Here they are, after a long day of charging camera batteries . . .
Sorry about the blur, 'twas very windy, and despite the numerous different, full, batteries tried, the camera would only work for about 15 seconds. Getting a nice shot was very hard.838283838384 This is one of the ordies. The other one escaped into my yard as a widow-maker nearly took my head due to the wind.

Let the season begin. Unless you're in Iowa where it's 23°F/-5C this morning.:D

We might have another big snow storm on Sat/Sun.

Very nice. I've been out doing photography a few times this month, but we only had 2 or 3 warm days and I didn't see any reptiles. We're supposed to get more snow this weekend and the extended forecast says we won't crack 60 through the rest of the month. But it's Denver so you never know.

78 in B.C. ? no way! It isn't nearly that warm even in Los Angeles and it's only in the 50's in SW Washington. . must have screwed up on the conversion to F. I just checked Vancouver B.C. and it's 43 F.

Awesome ordie you got there!

Yikes. Sunny mid 60's here the coming week. Trees are full of blossoms, daffodils and tulips are in bloom, and snakes are on the prowl for mates.

The males are starting to emerge in Michigan!!!
Walked the tracks this afternoon and saw an eastern male by the tracks, and a male T. Butlerii at the edge of the meadow.
Both were *extremely* sluggish and easily picked up. I saw ea h back under cover and tried for some phone pis-Ill try to upload but they are probably lousy.
40's, snow still hanging on in patches, but they're moving!!!

It was only 78 that one day, and that was the air temperature at 1:30 pm on Vancouver Island. We get a little more sporadic weather when it comes to wind and sunshine then the mainland does, exlcuding the interior.

In Nanaimo mind you. it was snowing in Campbell River, a couple hundred km North.
