The photo didn't quite meet the theme of the competition this month, he wasn't a scaly friend. Hard to believe it's been nearly a year since we lost the man most responsible for starting me down the slippery slope that currently stands at 13 garters.
RIP John - you wanted to inspire the next generation of keepers, you should be proud of your work.

Good post Chris. I miss talking with my friend. When I would call him at the hospital he'd tell everyone in the room to watch themselves because he was talking to a cop.:D Looks like John would have had another birthday on the 23rd. R.I.P my friend.

I miss my little guy. I feel like I've failed him in some way :(

We all have been there and will feel that way again. Hang in there.

I like to think that he'd be overjoyed at the fact that his snakes have kept on giving. There's a very happy 11 year old snake keeper here in Scotland that has a 'John special', marcianus (along with many other, older recipients).

You're right, he'd be chuffed to bits to know that his snakes are continuing to inspire new keepers.

Oh, I thought you'd won Feb.

Shouldn't be possible to win two in a row. Against the rules to even participate in a contest if you won the last one.

I got confused (easily done)... It was Bill that won last month, so it's a household back-to-back.
