Lately, I've noticed that a good amount people on this forum are going to reptile shows near me, it's surprising. I decided that I'd start this thread so that people can post up what reptile shows they go to, and hopefully find other forum members who go to the same shows. Heck, you might even discover a show right near you that you didn't even know existed! Leave the reptile shows you attend below.

These are mine:

Hamburg, PA
White Plains, NY
Oaks, PA
Reading, PA
Melville, NY
Hatfield, NY
Poughkeepsie, NY (Going to attend for the first time this month)
Teaneck, NJ (I'm going to attend it, I'm not sure if it is a one time thing or it will be repetitive)

**If you don't know of any reptile expos near you, check out the link below. It doesn't have ALL the shows but it has most (they didn't list Hamburg, PA this year for some reason).**

If I had to take a guess, I'd say Manchester, NH. It is the same expo as White Plains, but different location. It is the only one in NH that I know of.

Hamburg, PA, always

eventually I, (as Cold-Blooded Creation) will be vending most of the larger expos on the east coast. I have slated a few events for this year already...

-march 22-23 reading pet expo PA
-All oaks, PA shows
-August 2013 International Arboreal Symposium in MD(imagine my excitement... personally invited by some of the biggest Chondro names out there even though vendor space is limited)
-October 2013 Tinley Park IL

also waiting on a NY state sales tax permit so that I can get into white plains.

I do not expect to be fully established for 3-5 years. Eventually I will likely travel as far as TX and CA for the really big ones.

I want to vend Hamburg one day. I used to want to vend white plains, but with the NY Sales Tax Permit, and not being allowed to sell sirtalis sirtalis, I think I will pass on White Plains, it would be cool to also vend at some of the less crowded expos like Reading, Oaks, Melville and Hatfield, as it would bring more attention to my table.

I was looking online, and all of the expos in texas don't appear to have any vendors with garters? Is it just not as widely publicized as boas, and corns? Or will there really not be much there in our genre?

I would like to know about the Texas shows as well. I know there's one in San Antonio this weekend, but not sure if it's worth going to or not. Anyone else in this area who might know?

It was okay. Only one garter, a erythristic checkered, the guy had it priced at $250.00. And the poor thing was scared to death. As usual an overload of boas and pythons. I hope the Durham show is better. Repticon ICE Page (http://www.repticon.com/ice.html) and right now the only thing that would tempt me in the garters would be a really blue pugets female.

see, there's always room for one more! what happens when you find the puget you want? then which garter will be the next temptation?! ;)

I think you were scared that you couldn't resist my similis so that's why you didn't make to the Columbia show! Lol!

I enjoyed it. The garter selection was small. There were a couple of florida easterns at one table and a few albino checkereds at another. Lots of ball pythons. There were a couple of vendors that specialized in corns. More variety is always nice.

Unfortunately I saw the same thing at one of the show's last spring. A guy had a tub full of baby map turtles and there were dead ones floating around the live ones. Of course I said something, and it wasn’t nice or quiet at all. It's sad that vendors like this tend to keep people away and don't get a chance to see the reputable breeders at these shows. I continue to go and have learned the faces of the ones to avoid

I saw a guy at the last show with a bunch of our beloved garter snakes on his table that looked like they haven't been fed in months and were covered in blisters and it broke my heart to see such a thing and to know that most if not all of them will die! I'm not against keeping some wildcaught animals because that's how we improve bloodlines and that's how captive bred animals began, but to go out and rape the wild just to make a few bucks and not take care of them is REDICULOUS!!!

Went to the Capital Region NY Show (Times Union Center in Albany) today. It was disappointing. No garters that I saw, not even a marcianus. Almost no colubrids of any kind. Balls and boas. Most animals did look healthy which was nice. Bought some feeders for the carpet girls at a killer price, though. Realized I had never donated to any reptile rescue before, just furry critter ones so I did that. Felt good. All in all I think I'm done with shows though. Maybe the occasional White Plains but I doubt it. What really kind of upset me was there was a lot of bad advice being thrown around and I saw a guy put this boa around a kids neck and I don't know. That's just stupid, honestly. Especially in a crowded place where an animal could be easily spooked. Just my opinion.
