My snake didn't shed for almost a year and then shed about a month ago. He has been fairly inactive the past few days sitting in the corner of his tank and today I noticed he has blue eyes. Is he going to shed twice in a row after not shedding for a year? Not sure what to make of it, he ate two pinkies about a week ago.

Any chance the snake is gravid? I ask because even the slowest growing snakes that are pretty much maxed out on size will shed about every 5-7 months. I've had them just finish their normal shed, but then get gravid and shed again a month later (off-schedule if you will) due to their increasing girth.

Hmm, not sure. He wasn't eating for about a month, then he shed and started eating again a month ago.

I think not shedding for a year is very strange. My old adults shed a minimum of twice a year.
If your snake is back to shedding I would think that is a good sign. Track the shed dates on a calendar.
Good to have the dates written down to look back on.

Yeah, I've never had one go that long. At bare minimum frequency it's still roughly every 5-6 months, or 2-3 times a year.

My olive python recently did this. No shed for 6 months, and then suddenly she finally sheds, and now shes going to shed again a month later. Snake skin seems to have a mind of it's own, and I never let it concern me unless the animal seems to be otherwise ill.

Yeah, he's in his water dish shedding right now. Hopefully everything goes well.

One of these days I hope to see one of mine shed, I think that would be cool. Good luck :)
