Where is the best place to get Garter's in the UK? I've seen some on 888reptiles but are there any good breeders around? I live in London so somewhere nearby would be good

Its probably best to buy from a breeder. try putting an add in the classified here and at RFUK.

That website in the link labeled an eastern as "Northern gater" with a pic of a red sided thats spectacular.

There are a number of people here from the U.K. and I've seen posts on the reptile forums u.k. of very pretty animals.
spring, and babies will be coming soon so don't get too impatient if it takes a bit to turn up somebody you like and trust.

Most shops in the UK are not the best to say the least when it comes to garters. Stick to hobbist breeders as they take pride in there animals.:) I should have some surplus young available this year including blue pickeringii, sirtalis , cuitzeos and a few others I'm working on a website but do have a Facebook page.

Looking at the photos there some of the nicest young chequerds I have seen! Also look out for a Peter Williams (scorpion0151) , he breeds some top stuff. :)

Also this breeder is a top guy from holland that maybe in Doncaster again in September if he gets enough reserves. I can not recommend him enough.

Cool Facebook page, I've seen the one in the classifieds but I'm not ready to buy just yet so they will probably be gone by the time I'm setup

Thanks. Most of mine are in Brumation in the fridge and loft. If you click 'like' on my page then you will see updates on what is going on. I'm using it like a blog page for my everyday snake room life as well . What species are you after?

Probably looking for a checkered garter as recommended in my other thread, they seem to be the easiest to find over here as well

I think that's a good call. I do not keep them now but they are pretty straight forward and good natured. :)

I do indeed still have some 'little' female checkereds (6 months old now) ;) ... if you're out of local options check couriers for Perth, Scotland ... or ... do a 'Greg' and Megabus it ;) (crash space easily catered for).

Thanks Greg, I'm going to try and get everything sorted in the next couple of weeks and if I can't find any down here and you still have yours I'll let you know!

If you don't find one locally, and you can't get one of Greg's checkereds (I have a girl from the same parents as Greg's litter, only a year older than the current crop), and Scorpian can't help you...

Then one of the few shops I'd recommend is KBN Reptiles here in Coventry - https://www.facebook.com/kbnreptiles?ref=ts&fref=ts
They had a checkered in the shop, but that's going back about 6 months, might be worth pinging them an email to see if they still do. They'll usually respond really quickly, and they know and care about the snakes they sell.
