I didn't get a chance to post this last week, but we came home after a couple of days away after Christmas to find that Lipwig (our male radix) had had a partial shed. The odd thing about this one was that he'd shed his rear quarter but nothing from the head down to just above his vent. I've had partial sheds before but this is the first where the tails was done and not the head.
He was fine after a bit of time in a shed box which allowed me to peel him backwards. Just wondering if this is very unusual?

I would say not too unusual.

On the topic of strange sheds, my husband's corn snake shed all but the very tip of her tail. maybe bout 3/4 of an inch. What's a good method for getting the remaining skin off without damaging the tip of her tail? Will leaving it on there cause any sort of problems?

Can't leave it. Take a warm, wet hand towel holding the tail in it for a few minutes. After that time apply pressure on the unshed area and pull the tail through the towel. The fibers in the towel should catch the shed and remove it.
Sometimes just dipping the tail in water softens it up enough to be simply pulled off with your fingers.
Hope this helps.

My tiny santa cruz sheds funny like that.

Cannot leave shed on a tail it will constrict blood flow and the tip will die n fall off. I use warm wet paper towel it is easier to see the skin if its only a little bit.
IF the skin has been stuck for a little while soak for an hour or two and don't be afraid to use your finger nail and really pick at it, or even tweezers something to get it started if the towel doesn't get it... worst damage you could really do is pop a joint in the tip which isn't bad at all just may leave a slight kink. Cannot leave the skin on there.

We did the warm towel trick and it came off fairly easy. Thanks for the help guys! :)

As long as you get it when it's still fresh the damp towel should do the trick without any trouble. Glad you got it sorted, one of my marcianus girls had various stubby tail because I didn't know better when she was a baby.
