Hi all! Long time since I posted again, I´m an on/off kind of internet-user I guess :o

Just wanted to share this: Common Garter Snake | Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis | Reptile (http://www.wildlifenorthamerica.com/Reptile/Common-Garter-Snake/Thamnophis/sirtalis-sirtalis.html)

Check the "Food" section. Anyone ever catch your Garter trying to eat your cat? :p

Hmmm...I guess it could be possible if it was a giant garter, or a cut up cat:eek:

They've listed the natural predators. As food.

Sent them an email correcting the 3 biggest mistakes. The diet, the name and the "toxins in the saliva".

Gr8 job Stefan! I have to admit to finding the fact that a garter would eat a kingsnake rather odd as well...but on a site like that, the facts should be kept straight.

How about the length of 150 cm? For Americans, that's just barely shy of 5 feet. C'mon!

All the time. We actually had to put our garters in tanks just to keep the cats safe.

If garters could eat cats that would be one more reason to have them. More garters and less cats.:D

Sorry, not a cat person;)

They still got insects under food for the ribbons and crustaceans for the black-neck garter.
Few listed to eat lizards n snakes as well..
Didn't get to see cats as food lol

The cat bit is what caught my attention, for sure. I totally get that they, by mistake, put predators under foods. But the formulation, something along the lines of "as large as a cats"....i mean duh!? Is it really surprising that something the size of a cat would try to eat a snake? What about bigger predators, they won´t even try? lol:p

I know that my garters would certainly attempt to eat my cats...lol. But a garter eating a cat successfully? Ummm...maybe according to Billy the Exterminator...lol. I'm sure if he saw a garter on his show, he would call it a vicious, venomous snake and recommend that he and his stupid brother remove the snake immediately for everyone's safety. The biggest garters I have seen around here are about 4 feet long...easterns. Sometimes, I have to admit, I wish garters could swallow people. There would be quite a few people on my list to feed to my snakes...rofl.
