I just got both my snakes about 2 months ago. Pedro is my northern brown and Napolean is my garter. Im not sure what species the garter is. I found them both at work while moving some wooden crates so I decided to bring them home. My setup isnt anything special but its super easy to clean. My garter loves red worms/nightcrawlers. My northern brown will eat small red worms but loves slugs i catch in the yard. Unfortunatley with winter setting in i cant go outside and catch live slugs much longer. Anyone know where i can get live slugs?

Hello and welcome!
When you say red worms, do you mean red wiggler? I ask because they can be toxic to garters.

No defiantly not red wigglers. I call earthworms red worms. I probably should have clarified. So far everything I feed my snakes I have got from the yard or flower bed. Nothing store bought yet.

I'm gonna try and switch the garter snake over to pinkies this winter since I can't really dig through snow and look for worms.
