Concinnus, no doubt.

Followed by parietalis. (which would likely change if I ever got to work with radix or some of the other snakes with awesome personalities)

So far right now all I have is sirtalis and proximus. I definitely want a nice radix. I'm not sure if I want to breed them yet. I like to keep snakes as a pet and get used to their behavior before I decide to breed them. But from what I heard is that they are usually pretty nice and like being handled. Sirtalis are very nice snakes (although occasionally I get an aggressive or pregnant [usually defensive when pregnant] one) but being sirtalis, they do get scared easily. When you first get them out of the cage, they are usually very jumpy, but they do calm down after about 30 seconds if you handle them calmly. But don't spook them or they start thrashing and musing again. Unless they are aggressive, they usually don't want to bite and often use it only as a last resort.

Red sideds are a close second for me, as I said. I've always loved them.

Almost put down red sided, just cuz I've always loved them, but didn't.

Also I retract the "that may change" statement I made, they'll also be a favorite of mine. Hope to expand my red sided collection as much as any species..

but I just gotta choose concinnus due to personality among other things, and mostly the fact that my favorite snake of mine is my concinnus, Rooster.

I hate to pick favorites, but I voted concinnus. I'd also like to include a write-in vote for easterns, pugets, similis and all of the other thamnophis ;) :p

Well, I voted for Western Ribbon. I really only know my two garters. My ribbon was my first one and he's just a little girly boy, and I love him:p I'm really loving Tallie's personality, she's more bold, I guess you would say. Not as skittish as Proximus, and I really like that considering she's still a little baby. But I think T. p. orarius will always have a special place with me:)

My vote was for red-sided as their attitude just wins for me ... I was torn though ... my favourite phenotype is definitely concinnus.

ordinoides because they're so variable in pattern and colour and they have cute little heads and bobble eyes:D.It's a crime they aren't common in the hobby.

My favourite individual snake is my female T. equis cuitzeoensis, so I've voted "other". She's followed by radix, but infernalis are up there based purely on their good looks (I'm reserving judgement on their personality).

Amen! :)

However, I'm really loving my radix girls too, close second, they are both awesome total package snakes, beauty and personality I love, what more could I ask for? :p

Obscurus, proximinus rubrilineatus, and ocellatus. And s. sirtalis too because they are my home species and what got me into snakes many years ago.

OMG I HAVE TO CHOOSE!!!!!
I voted Florida Blue as they are a chunky laid back snake, happy to be handled!
but a close favorite would have been Santa cruz, shy but striking markings..
But I also have a very soft spot for San Francisco! just so colourful.

Voted other. Thamnophis eques cuitzeoensis. By far the most charismatic intelligent garters i have ever owned, they arent very popular yet but if you get a chance to add this species i highly recommend them.

I'm glad to see someone else sees the intelligence of this species, it makes me think that it isn't just mine that are the most intelligent of all my garters. I definitely see the most intelligent behaviour from my female Cuitzeo - she lets the radix and parietalis that she shares with check for danger when I open the viv, and decides to come forward or hang back based on their actions. She has learned which of the radix girl's actions tend to lead to her being rewarded with food, and now copies the radix girl. She recognises me and comes out to my hands, but rarely does the same for my wife. Ultimately, she is the evil genius that runs the viv and the radix and parietalis are her minions.

Nothing happening this year. None of mine are brumating or breeding this year, my priority is getting used to having Joseph (who was two months old yesterday) around, these baby people take up a surprising amount of time. So other than the 2012 babies I got from Sjoerd this year I don't plan on having any baby snakes until 2014 - then the Cuitzeos will be top of the list for breeding.
