Here is my high red pair for the future. The female looks like she needs to shed. She will be given another year to grow/mature. The smaller male is the Son of Nova. I've never seen a more red male radix in my life. He is stunning. He may be ready to breed this coming Spring. I certainly have a few other red adult females he can spend sometime with.

Steve needs a reminder every now and then to make sure he knows how lucky he is to live in radix central. We aren't as unlucky as you @ndy, there's quite a selection of garters available in Europe, so if you were looking to import to SA it may be worth checking to see whether it's easier from Europe or US.

No one needs to remind me.;) These awesome snakes do everyday.
I am a blessed man. If were able to get them out to everyone that wants them I would.

It would be nearly impossible to get them here since manitoba is home to a den with like a billion snakes living in it. No one has ever put a camera down into that den, there is probably a secret underground world of snakes we just don't know about.
damn t. radix for being a native species here, those are beautiful and I seriously do want one or 2

apparently there has been reports of flames being found up north
I just tried a quick search on google with no result, but I know I've read something about this within the last 2 years

T. radix is another garter that has made it to far reaches of the globe. Popular in E/SE asia even.

Flames (true flames) are descended from similar (t. s. sirtalis) snakes found in Canada. However, they have been selectively bred over many generations to become what we see in the market today. There are still wild "flames" but they aren't truly flames unless they're captive bred. They're just wild snakes that are of the same morph or similar to, the snakes that flames descend from.
And you are correct. Recently in a rather remote area somewhere in Canada, some very red sirtalis' have been found. There is a thread here somewhere about it.

I posted the article a while back. The snakes were discovered by hydro workers in Beren's River, MB. I cant imagine that they would be parietalis but they are far removed from the range of sirtalis.

I'm just teasing you because you don't want to give up your radixes easily, in spite of the numbers.;)
Personally, I don't think you have enough garters. You need to add on to your home so you'll have room for more. And rodent pro or mice direct just needs to go ahead an open a facility next door so they can keep up. :p

An addition for more garters and a shed for breeding rodents... which is essentially what I'll be looking for when buying a house next year

Steve, where in Iowa are you located? I went to school in Davenport, Iowa and will be making a trip down there sometimes in the future for homecoming (not sure what year) but might be able to swing by if you are not too far from Davenport.
