Without some under tail shots it is hard to sex them.
If I were to guess I would say the bottom right snake is male and the top left is female.

By the way. Nice looking T.radix.

I would go with Steve, but vent pics would be better. Here's a thread that shows the types of pics to put up: http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/breeding/5069-sexing-pics.html

Can't tell for sure with those pictures, but one of them is definately a male, and if I had to guess I'd say the other is as well. But I really can't tell in those shots

Boy, those Canadian radixes look strange. There's no dorsal pattern. Looks like T. e. elegans from above.

Nice looking snakes what are your plans for these guys?

I (http://www.biology.ualberta.ca/uamz.hp/snake.html) would say both are males. Was thinking of letting them go on my property either by the rock pile or near the beaver pond.

Question: When babies are born in the wild, do they usually hang out close to the area that they were born?

How much time until Winter hits your area?
If these snakes are not originally from your immediate area I would not release them this late in the season.
They would need time to learn the area and find a suitable brumation site. Not to mention food and water.

I could over winter them or find people who could, or could release them back where I found them. (at this time of year on a nice day they sunbathe on the road and stupid people aim for them instead of going around them, thats why I stopped and caught these guys) There was one squished already when I drove by that area.

They look like males to me. Very similar to the radix found in my neck of the woods. Can't say I've ever found one that looked like any of Steve's.
