Hi everyone

I'm Kathy and I live in Newcastle with my husband, 3 children and our animal family. I currently volunteer in a local reptile shop and also have worked in rescue for many years, although only more recently with snakes. I have my own reptiles which until now have not included any Thamnophis or Natricines, much as I have loved them from afar. Others know me for my love of ratsnakes, particularly black rats, of which I would have a houseful if I had more room and time! I am also excited to have a trio of Coluber rogersi which I am planning to breed in future with more additions next year to boost the process.

A lovely gentleman on another forum advised me to come and join here (*waves to johnc*) after I posted for advice on some fosters I have taken in. Recently a large number of snakes were rescued from a home who wasn't coping, and I have taken some home to foster. Some are a bit slender and all had mites, but they seem resilient so far. My group include 2 Plains Garters (healthy female babies), a juvenile Chequered garter of unknown gender (empty and light but not underweight) and a female Peninsula Ribbon snake who is emaciated and was badly dehydrated. We know she was bought with a male in August by the owner, but we have not seen the male and am trying not to presume the worst.

Anyway, huge thanks to John for the link and hello to everyone here.

Kathy

Nice to have you with use.
I was wondering if you could post a full body photo of the Ribbon. I was looking at a photo of the head on another forum and think the snake may have sustained an injury to the top right side of its head. I saw what appears to be a dent in the supraocular scale.
I have had good luck getting my ribbon to eat worms if I scent the front (head) of the worm with tilapia.
Here is a link to the forum care sheet which is always a good read.
