Well, it was inevitable. So here it is my all in one snake thread. Currently I have three snakes and it looks to be that way for a while, fortunately for me they are 3 aswome snakes. So lets get started first there is Lucy she is a Red plains x Axanthic X Red plain x axanthic, Lucy is very friendly and just over all an awsome snake. Next are Z which is the female and then the male who has yet to be named(would love some suggestions). They are Florida blue stripes and I can not wait to see what they will be like when they mature. Here are the pics.
Lucy enjoying some worms.

Currently I don't have a single shot of Z but her they all are hanging out Z is the one in front.

Lucy is getting ready to shed again, her last shed was about 3 to 4 weeks ago and I swear she might be getting some orange :D. The younger babies both shed with in 2 days of each other and are looking alot bluer.

Hey guys, quick question in the way of pinkies. How much should I feed. The 2 babies are around a foot maybe a little less and then lucy is 14 or 15 inches. Also is Rodent pro the best place? Thank you as I know you guys will supply me all the answers I could want.:D

Check micedirect.com, laynelabs.com and rodentpro.com to see which site can accomadate your needs. Also check if there are any expo/shows in your area, you can buy the frozen pinkies from a vendor there without having to pay the expensive shipping.

Ok I need some help one of my babies shedded the on thier lower half and not thier upper half. I picked her up to put her in the shed box and she regurgitated on me twice. Is this a major problem or what I will take any advice.

Edit she is in the shed box as I write this.

The regurg. was probably due to stress. You may have to manually shed her.

Yes, keep it wet and be extra careful removing the eye caps. Sounds like you are doing fine.

Ok I did it and Z is not in the main tank again looking brand new. I will keep the tank more humid from here on out. Thank you for all the help.

Caps off? lip scales too?

Invisible Snake

If you don't have a shed hide in the enclosure try putting in a larger water bowl that helps keep the humidity up and when you notice your snakes going opaque cover most of the top of the tank with a towel for a couple of days.

Sorry I'm not Scott or Jeff, but this has worked for me in the past.

:D, I am 99% sure I got both eye caps but is there a way to tell? Same with the lip scale.

Me too. A shallow large water dish placed near or on a heat source, cover tank partially with a towel. But still keep water for drinking on the cool end. Garters don't like to drink warm water.

Quick update all snakes are doing fine both babies are shedding without a problem now. Quick question though I have two females and 1 male in the same cage at what age should they be seperated?

Just my opinion.

It has been a while so I though I would update everyone. All the snakes are doing great and all are growing amazingly fast. They have been eating lots of worms and I am trying to get them going on some fresh yellow tail but the male true blue doesn't want anything to do with it I did try scenting it with worms but it did not work any suggestions? Other than that all is good. Here are some pics.

Heres "Z" the bluest of the two(I was hoping the picture would show more blue).

Heres lucy looking all dirty, I am expecting a shed from her most likely tonight.

Was feeding the snakes today when I found what looks to be like some blood on lucy's lower lip. Should I be worried? any thing I should do? Thank you.

Are you sure it's her blood? What was she eating? Maybe it was the blood from her food.

When was the last time she fed?

ConcinusMan
02-12-2013, 04:03 PM
Just watch the mouth area carefully for swelling. If you don't see any I wouldn't worry about it. If she's in with other snakes check them over too. I have occasionally found small traces of blood like that in enclosures or on snakes. The occasional random occurrence usually isn't any cause for concern but if it's happening regularly you should try to determine if it's coming from someone's cloaca. Some parasite infections can cause small traces of blood to come out when the snake urinates or defecates. It also happens when there's been copulating going on. Check the cloacas and see if they look recently "used" :p

She was fed right after this picture was taken. Thank you for the advise and I will check it out.

Sorry yes she is and they were both checked over two and all looks good, I thnk she just nicked by one of her hides when I was trying to get her out.

ConcinusMan
02-13-2013, 04:11 PM
That could be. Probably nothing to worry about.
