Just wanted to post and say hello to everyone. I'm new but I've decided to move into garters as they certainly pack a lot of beauty into a small space. At the moment I'm getting ready to set up and get a trio of baby Florida blue stripes (T.s. similis). At some point down the road my dream is to acquire some of the blue/red California locale garters as well.

Hello and welcome! Not sure if you are referring to infernalis or tetrataenia when you say California red and blue...just be aware that San Frans (tetrataenia) are federally protected and illegal to own.

Or disturb. Photos from afar is the best you can do.

Yes the San Francisco is what I'd love to own, but alas it lives in the background of my computer. I've seen some nice red/blue mix in some other subspecies. I will get pics as soon as I get them, right now I just have the seller's pics. I'll try and post those a little later on.

I have a lot more research to do so I don't ask questions that have been asnwered 30 times before, but I wanted to share the picture I have of the babies I'm getting in the next month or so (the gentleman who has them is holding them for me).

I'm thinking from the supralabials that they are easterns. But Steve would know better than I. Many of us would love to own a San Fran...they are quite lovely. I also have some pics on my computer. I often joke about going to CA and running out of a park with a San Fran in my pocket and park rangers chasing me. :D

I do believe they are similis. That's what they said in the first post. Very cute:)
