Thanks Joe.
I'm looking forward to watching these little monsters turn into big monsters.

Cool! Just a quick question Steve. Are yours very shy? My pair is very wary of me and dont often show themselves.

They've only been on the Ranch for 4.5 hours so I can't comment, yet.

Haha sounds good. I notice you also keep them in a tub. I bet that helps.

The tub is temporary during quarantine. They will move into a regular front opening enclosure afterwards.

I have 1 lone female that is very shy, spending most of her time under substrate. When I pick her up she is very flighty and if she looks at me she opens her mouth wide as if to scare me away or bite me.

Is she an adult or a juvenile? I wonder if it's only a phase that they go through.

Kool, I would love to know how they get along. Keep us posted.
I have a lone female housed by herself, I'm afraid of housing her with my NA garters because she is more heavy-bodied than them.

I'm housing my pair of scotti with a pair of sirtalis, a pair of similis, and a few marcianus. No problems at all. You hardly even see the scotti!

Very nice Steve.
they told me they don't eat much, but grow very quick ...... I must warn you ... some are biiiiiiiig eaters :D
I love the mexican ones. I have a big adult pair, and some babies from last year left.
I must say .. in the beginning they are a bit shy ... but the older they get the more visible they are.
I have my adult male with an adult concinnus. I have my female with 2 melanogaster canescens females who are much smaller.
One of my first thamnophis was a scotti male. He's now together with some sirtalis (parietalis, florida blue, melanistic) but they do very good togheter ... I do have to say I don't feed them in their tank. I take them out and feed them seprate in a feedingcontainer.
Most of my scotti's love to sit in the whater for hours. So make sure you have a large whater bowl.
I have some melanogaster canescens babies. Also from mexico. But that's a whole other ballgame :D
Nice job with the scotti's steve .. enjoy.

Here we see a couple of the T.e.scotti scrubs enjoying a morning swim.
After their swim they were served warm pinky parts for breakfast.
The snake not shown is in opaque phase.

Yeah the scotti's are awesome. I like them a lot. It was my first garter .......
Funny part is .. I had babies but nobody wants them ??? I still have babies left from last year.
So strange because they are so cool. Very nice green belly, very active and they love their whater bowls.
Enjoy them .. they are awesome .... I'll keep reading their updates here. Very nice.

Extra small pinkies were on the menu this afternoon and it didn't take long for the plate to become empty.
I love the extra wide dorsal these T.e.scotti's have.

Here are the two good eaters slamming down some tilapia. The second photo is my troubled eater. I have able to get her(?) to take a couple pinkies but basically had assault her with them. The other two readily take food where this one runs and tries to hide when I enter the paddock.
I'm hoping this kind of behavior will stop as she matures.
They are beautiful snakes. Thanks Joe.;)

I've been thinking about getting some scotti for here. I'm not usually one to own anything outside sirtalis. I'm considering it though.

Looking good Steve! My male is relatively laid back and confident in his surroundings. The female has a tendency to hide and be squirmy. Pretty poor feeder as well. My pair seemed to be quite shy compared to other garters. Interesting to see how they mature.

Been awhile since I've updated these beauties. All 3 are doing well. The smaller of the 3 is shy but coming along.
They are very good eaters and aren't picky about what they eat.
