I know there's a few of you that have been waiting for this. If you were expecting a photo of a garter.... sorry, this is better. :)

Joseph was born today (5 September) at 12:37 BST and weighed in at 8lb 8.5oz. He didn't want to leave his mum, and was eventually born by emergency c-section - it isn't anything serious, but you may spot the bandaged hand in the photo, it's covering a cannula for IV antibiotics, which are just a precaution until they get test results. Char is recovering well and gets to sleep with our son tonight while I have to settle for catching up on sleep at home.
Someone recently told me that you can't have enough nappies (diapers)... We will see.

I've just had an easy night compared to Char. Apparently he's a problem eater, but maybe we'll try formula instead of worms or guppies ;)
Thanks everyone, I'll pass on the congratulations to the two most wonderful people in the world in an hour or so when I go back to the hospital for the day.

Funny you should ask about his enclosure. A certain irony dawned on me...
In hospital he is sleeping in a "plastic tub", and despite the mattress substrate and the cuddly bunny decoration it isn't what I'd call home (considering I don't like keeping my garters in a RUB). When he's home he has his nursery with a nice cot and changing table, and a Moses basket until he's big enough for the cot. He's happy enough sleeping in the plastic crib ghou,so maybe I could have saved a few quid and just got him a sturdy cardboard box to sleep in at home. :)

A little different situation, but you know they say you buy a kid an expensive toy, and they want to play with the box:rolleyes:

Congratulations!!! Joseph is adorable!!! My oldest was born via emergency c-section and also had the IV's as a precaution while awaiting test results. Not a big deal... my kiddo is now 20 and healthy as a horse, always has been :)

That's okay. I'll buy him an expensive Lego set, I can take out the pieces and play with it, the Gruffajo can play with the box. :)

Outstanding! Glad to hear mom and baby are doing well. Do you have family to help you both the first month? That was a lifesaver for us. Best wishes on this new journey. Someone new to share the garters with.... How exciting! Hopefully your existing brood won't be jealous. ;)

Both of them are now home from hospital and Joseph has had his first few changes at home. He's eating really well and has put on 5.5oz in his first week (most babies loose weight initially). We have Char's mum with us until the weekend, so if he's having a bad night I can take turns with her (Char is recovering from the c-section and endometritis which gave us a scary moment on Friday so we're trying to let her sleep more now she doesn't have to get through the night feeds on her own).
