About a month ago I purchased a magnifying light off craigslist. My eyes are bad and I needed help.
This thing is fantastic and I recommend them to even the good-sighted people.
It has really help with getting sheds started, getting retained eye caps off and just general inspection of my snakes.
I was lucky enough to find a high dollar one for little money ($20.00) This is a dermatology grade light.
Just a suggestion.

I picked one up last year for £25. They really are worth the money. I used mine for sexing juvenile tarantula molts. If you do ever find one, buy it without even considering it.

Those are pretty cool lights. We have one, and I've actually forgotten about it. I'll have to keep it in mind now that it's been brought up! Thanks Steve:)

I've been meaning to get one of these too. I keep looking for a decent one at a reasonable price.

I have never thought of that! With my old eyes, my reading glasses get stronger each year! This will help me in a number of ways, especially with identifying health issues.

They come in handy for other things too. I use it when I'm soldering circuit boards, removing splinters, etc. Well worth the investment in my opinion.

I could probably use one of these for my soldering as well. soldering to really small traces is pretty hard to pinpoint perfectly.. time to start looking!

Scott Felzer had one at his table at the Myrtle Beach expo. They're awesome! I wasn't aware you could find them so cheap... must look on craigslist for one!

Bump.

This thing is great. I recommend everyone have one available.

I picked up one account few weeks ago. So far I've not "needed" to use it, but it's great to see the little squigglies closer up.
I'd rather have it sat in the snake room and hope I don't need to use it in anger than need to get a closer look at one of my snakes and not be able to.

Next stop for me is a microscope (it's educational for Joseph, right?) so I can look a bit closer up. Who knows, I could dig out the old microbiology text books and with a bit of practice I could do my own fecal float.

No, my vision is pretty bad. I started wearing prescription glasses about 2 years ago.

I only have one snake and he gets all of my attention, so I've never really needed to inspect him that close. In the event of an injury or a failed shed, it'll come in handy.

I imagine you see these things much more frequently.
