Since the issues with rodentpro I have delayed ordering pinks and have been feeding my garters f/t silversides and live feeder fish for the past 3-4 weeks and have noticed that their enclosures have been extra smelly lately. Is it because they are defecating more or is it because a fish only diet produces smellier poo? (Btw I clean their enclosures once a week)

Yeah, fish makes for really stinky poop. I notice it a lot if I give everyone fish treats.

Oh, i should switch to worms... that might be the problem :O

Worms can cause somewhat smelly poo, also... Not as much as fish, though.

With fish in the diet it helps with spot cleaning - you know there's something fresh in there that you need to find. :)
I've noticed fish tends to be smellier but not terribly offensive.

You should have smelled Snap and Ember's poop. It smelled like year old moldy salmon.

Silversides are the worst in my experience. Salmon and tilapia smell a bit less. Worms vary. Fresh garden worms aren't bad, but that bad batch I got from walmart (the one that gave all my snakes dysentery) caused a stench like nothing I've smelled before.
In general I've found fresher going in = less stinky coming out.

When feeding fish you have to clean the terrarium more often. And like Chris-UK says... spot cleaning helps a lot. And also keeping the substrate very dry and absorbent helps.

What the hell is wrong with your noses? The only time there's any sort of smell, is when there's a fresh pile of rodent-based ****.

Hmm.... I experience just the opposite. Not only does a rodent diet produce less ****, but also it's more solid and not near as stinky as with worms/fish. After a large meal of fish and/or worms, I don't even have to check the enclosure to know it's time to clean up; I can smell it from across the room!
