61896190619161926193 When I posted some pics from when i first got him I was told that he was a tad small for his age.Do you guys think he still looks small for a 6-7 month old?He has been eating like a mochyn.I've upgraded his water bowl so he likes a good swim now and again:D.Also I'm starting to think that Garry is girl so I put some vent pictures up (sorry about the quality the camera doesn't focus up close and he wouldn't stop moving he's to curious for his own good:)).

Looks like she's catching up to normal size for a T. marcianus! Keep up the feeding portions with the growth they grow big fast!

Scooba Steve! It works for the ladies too! I'm going to name my future daughter, if I have one, Scooba Steve. It'll be epic. Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Sorry William. I can't be sure on the gender by the pic thought someone had told you female .could be male.

If you want to keep it close to Garry how about Gracie? Oh, and he/she is very pretty.

I wouldn't rename Garry just yet. I think you're going to need some in-focus photos will be necessary though.
Size-wise, looks like he's growing nicely.

I've dropped Garry down to being fed every 3-4days.Does that sound good or should I go back to feeding him every other day?

Every other day seems too frequent for a 6-7 month old. Looking at his size against the thermometer, I'd think twice a week as right.

I think Garry looks like a nice size for his age. Big in fact...compared to my marcianus at that age. At six or seven months, I fed Hermes every 4-5 days. Hermes is a year old this month. I have been feeding him for the last couple of months on the same schedule as my bigger adults. Every 5-6 days.

Big in fact...compared to my marcianus at that age. That's why I'm starting to think he's in fact a female because I've heard they have large growth spurts also after the vent it doesn't stay the same thickness or bulge out.I'll try to commandeer my sister's camera to see if it'll focus better.

"Garry" is looking pretty good:) If he is a girl then maybe you could name her "Geri," like Geri Spice:p(or "Ginger Spice..." w/e).

Ok now just being nosey(:p): How come you have your thermometer set on fahrenheit, do you not live in Wales? Just your preference?

I use fahrenheit for reptile temperatures because most of the reptile community on the internet are American so it's just easier to use fahrenheit than have to convert it.The rest of the time it's metric all the way:D

Apart from pints. And miles. And PSI. And mph. And mpg. And did I mention pints?
:)
However, I can't work in Fahrenheit for love nor money, it just doesn't make sense to my brain.

Have you weighed Garry recently? If you can it makes comparing size more scientific.

I feel that way about C, Chris :p
Though, the schools that I had gone to never really taught how to convert them in a way that made sense. One teacher was so bad that she just gave us the answers.. Hah.. I have a hard time working out the math because I read or do it backwards.... :D

To give rough idea of his size, when he straightens out he reaches both sides of his 30cm cube exo terra.

Garry had a good feed today. He finally snapped out of it and ate most of his pinkie and trout.I love that warm fuzzy feeling you get when they eat:)

I'm with Chantel on the celcius thing. I cannot begin to think in terms of it...nor do the conversions off the top of my head. So...I appreciate William giving us Americans a little help! I also like the name Geri. I think Bella might be a male...I don't know! I am so terrible at sexing! But I figure because of Bella Lugosi...I'm in the clear. :D

Just checked back on him and he's finished the hole dish. He's currently hauling his fat arse around the cage searching for more food. It's good to see he's back to his old self:)

Garry's been playing up again! He doesn't seem interested the food I offered him just now. It either got something to do with it getting colder or he's just messing with my head...y bachgen bach drwg:)

Maybe he is going to shed? Hope he doesn't keep it up too long!

He's usually eats right through his sheds.I know I shouldn't worry but it gets frustrating when a usually good eater starts going off food.Y bachgen bach drwg means naughty little boy.

How long ago was his last meal?

-MARWOLAETH-
08-31-2012, 04:55 PM
The last proper meal he had was about two weeks ago I got him to take a few bits of fish after shoving them in front of his face and prodding him lol.Usually he would go absolutely mental when he smells food.

Hmm.. that is something I would be concerned about, keep a close eye on him. Maybe it has something to do with the weather like you said. If you can try varying his diet with a nightcrawler or a few live guppies.

It would seem she went off food because she was in shed i'ts quite unusual because she would usually eat straight through them. She is now back to her old self and eating great! She put back on the weight she lost while not eating and seems to be getting bigger every day.I hope she keeps it up:)

I was wondering how long do marcianus usually take to get to full size?

Glad to hear he..or she...is eating again. Confused about the gender...
I wouldn't worry too much if a snake goes off food for a couple of weeks. I have had mine go off food for months. Seeley once did not eat for three months...the vet said it was the cold weather.
I have no idea how long it takes a marcianus to become full grown. Hermes is 13 months old now and he is still very small compared to my easterns....but he has grown quite a bit since I first got him at 4 mos.

Glad to hear she is back on food. Growth has much to do about food intake and the individual snake's genetics.
I would think by year 4 she should be at a good adult size.(they never stop growing though)
Just my opinion.

I had an interesting feeding session with Geri yesterday. She's an odd little thing, when I'm not feeding her she thinks I want to kill her and flies around the tank as soon as she sees me but when I poke the hemostats in her face she stays still and plucks the food off it nicely,it's as if she's a completely different snake.Does anyone else have a snake with a split personality?
