After long lasting and excited waitingwhile I was jealously reading about all your offspring
I sat down at the sofa with my first offee of the day and had a short glance at my set up.
Surprise, surprise the big erythristic St.Matthews fimale gave birth in the night.
My coffee became cold...
Maybe she heard us talking at the dinner yesterday to make a meal of her if she doesnt give birth,
because she as the fatest snake in our stock ;-)

Sounds like everyone is having wonderful baby surprises lately! Kind of makes me want more babies...kind of. It is so exciting to have new little ones. But...I think I have enough on my plate for now...I might have to eat some of mine! Lol....

This is their mother, my wild sired St.Matthews female, born in 2008. She´s a big girl
weighting 236 gramms after giving birth and was star of several of my photo contest entries.

Beautiful snakes you have. I hope my Carteret County Erythristic develops into something similar to your female.

What's your secret for having such a large litter? o.O

I don´t know how she produced such a gorgeous litter.
It is her secret not mine.
Maybe some of the honor should go to the male, who delivered good sperm.

Thanks for replying, but what I meant by "your secret" I was wondering how long did you brumate the parents and at what temperatures? Did you wait for them to get to a certain age before pairing them up? Also did you feed the mom anything special while she was pregnant?

That mother is simply stunning! And the babies are adorable. I think that if I looked in an enclosure and saw a pile of scrubs like that...I might faint! Big litter you have there! Congrats and good luck with them. Keep us posted!
