Not sure where to start. Many things one would like to do in life. The list changes, some things become more important than others. Yesterday I got to check one off that had been added to the list only a short time ago..... visit The T. Radix Ranch and finally meet Steve who up until yesterday I had only visited with on the forum and over the phone. THANK YOU STEVE! Words can't explain or do justice to the experience I had. To view and enjoy/admire everything on the ranch. To hold some of the snakes that on here you have come to know with pics and posts. To talk and visit with a man whoes love for these animals is clear to see on the forum, but to SEE it is something else all together. Great snakes, wondeful family, one hell of a guy! I thought on the drive home just how lucky I am to be within driving distance of an experience that anyone that loves garter snakes should experience, if only once. I hope to do so many more times! Tank, awesome! Again, I'm really at a loss for words they don't seem to be enough. Thanks again Steve, can't wait to do it again.

I have never had a desire to have a "Bucket List" and do things I have not done yet before I die. I have tried to have a different kind of "Bucket List" and that is to right as many of the wrongs that I have done before I die. Many people may not want to forgive me for how I have wronged them, but at least I know I have done everything in my power to correct the situation.

The thanks goes to you Dan. It's always a pleasure meeting forum members in person. You've taken on a nice little project from Mark and I appreciate you doing that. Hope you end up with some nice red radixes out of those two groups you adopted. I'm also looking forward to seeing some photos of the female T.s.parietalis (Red Sided Garter) you took home with you. She's a worm and tilapia hound. Haven't tried any pinky parts with her but I'm sure she will take to them also.

Your "bucket list" sounds very much like the plot to the t.v. show "My Name is Earl" :p

Never heard of the show. I have very little time to watch TV, as a matter of fact I only watch DVDs, I do not have cable or satellite.

I don't have bucket list just a simple goal in life of "try not be an idiot" [it isn't going well so far:D]

Everyone, keep it relevant to garters, or I'm sending this thread to bit-heaven.

Why should it be relevant to garters? The thread title says "Bucket List"; does it necessarily mean that everything we post in this thread has to have something to do with garters?
Frankly, I would think a thread like this would go well with similar threads, like the Favorite Music or the Movie and TV threads.

There was a time when threads like this abound and suddenly Thamnophis.com didn't seem very Thamnophis focused. I for one caused some of the trouble. The powers to be (forum owner and Mods.) stepped in and forced a refocus. I for one agree with what they did.
This thread was also started with garter snakes in mind, so to see it get derailed would go against what I believe the intent of the thread creator.
Off topic subjects / chat and things like that go into http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/garter-snake-lounge/1293-its-oh-so-quiet-shh-shh.html

Just my spin on the situation.

The intent was not to start a conversation about bucket lists. My bad in naming the thread something trying to be cute/funny. Should have just called it Amazing Visit or Trip to the Ranch. I for one don't keep a list, I just had one heck of a visit with Steve, wanted to say thanks, express that anyone thinking of someday doing the same it would well be worth the visit. Sorry for any confusion. In the future the use of this thread will be for any trips taken to the ranch, and if anyone else goes to visit (which I strongly suggest if possible) feel free to use it as well..... now lets talk snakes.
The albino red sided is gorgeous. Plan is to start her thread separate tomorrow (pics). She is a hound when it comes to eating, after settling in for 24 hours or so she pounded down some nightcrawlers tonight. The projects Steve referred to will also get a thread in time, trying to get all my facts straight before posting anything. These two groups also ate like champs tonight as well, a few food fights, everyone is no worse for wear.

Steve summed it up. The music and movie threads are remnants from before the purge (both of them dating back to 2006) and the reason why they weren't closed or deleted along with so many others, is that the mods wanted to be nice, as strange as that may sound.
This thread also happens to be situated in Garter Snakes / General Talk.

I'd add a trip The Ranch to my bucket list. Meeting other forum members has been a good experience for me so far (hopefully there will be a fair number of us at Donny in September as well). It's good to put a face to the semi-anonymous forum user, and a bonus from visiting them is also meeting their snakes.
Unfortunately for me a visit to The Ranch isn't likely to happen soon, but if it did happen I'd have to tie it in with a trip to Manitoba at the right time of year.

Wouldn't it be great to have a European invasion of America (a Herpetological one of course:))

You're a couple of centuries too late.
(a Herpetological one of course:))
Oh, that sort of invasion. Yep, as a garter keeper it would be great to eventually visit the places where they'd be found in the wild and get musked by some wild garters.
