I just got my new 20 gallon long tank.
I just changed the bark that was inside to aspen. I think they like it a lot better. Zeus loves to burrow in it :)
I am gonna keep zeus and Jesse together. They get along so well. Sometimes I will wake up in the morning and they will be sleeping together.
Their new home has two hides, a piece of natural driftwood and a large bowl for swimming. It looks like they like it a lot better.

The other wandering, Tobi, is kept by himself. He is not too friendly yet.
I have included a pic of Jesse's latest shed. Right on time lol. She was really hungry after and ate 3 silversides! Nipping my finger once or twice. But she is learning to be calmer about taking food from your hand.

I took Tobi, the male wandering garter, to a local greenbelt and released him. It had been a week since my cousin found him and all food that I have offered was rejected. I told her that it was best to let him go. I didnt want him to die in my care. She understood. I would love to find her a friendly snake that will eat well.

Re-did the tank again. Added some plastic plants for some green. I think they like it a lot better.

Here is Zeus being a little punk. He got out somehow last night. Decided to explore the apt. lol. Somehow he got onto the counter and into a box of cereal. I went to throw it out and he landed on the floor and darted under the stove. Good thing he came out for a worm. What a dork :P

Sounds like Zeus is a character.
I'm sure you are aware of it but mixed species and mixed sexes is a recipe for trouble.
Jesse still looks young but it is something to be ever aware of.

They both are just awesome snakes. Took Jesse to the reptile store the other day ans she let two little boys pet her. They were kinda scared at first, but she did really good.
They get along so well. I would hate to separate them. I know that if they bred it wouldn't be good.
I would love to get a different species of female garter to keep with Jesse. Then I could move Zeus to his own tank.

If you ever come through the Omaha/Council Bluffs area stop by the Ranch and pick out a female radix(free of charge).
If you have a friend coming through I can have a female ready for them to pick up and bring to you.
It will also give you a mate for Zeus if you decide to breed at some point.

Wow thanks, that's really sweet. I would love to come see your ranch and your garters. Possible next summer when I have vacation time again I will make the trip up there. I have never been to Iowa.

Steve is great at providing same sex roomies! I had a male eastern and female eastern together that I didn't want to separate because they were so happy together...but I knew I had to separate them or they would keep making babies! Steve sent me male and female radixes so that I could have roomies for them.
Nice set-ups!

From some of the pics that I have seen of his ranch it looks pretty amazing. I am already excited about going there. I may be able to go there after school lets out again in the spring. Maybe sometime in May. Weather should be ok for a little road trip.
