This is just out of curiosity but is it possible at all? The original snakes would of been imported here originally after all.

I started thinking about this a few days ago and thought it would be nice to get some new bloodlines in. I started thinking about this after securing 2 Florida blue babies from the UK (I say I've secured them but I'll find out soon). From what I understand these are pretty inbred within Europe. It would be great to introduce new bloodlines to them and be able to keep the species a little healthier over here.

Am I being to idealistic or would this ever be possible?

I'm looking at it. Not impossible but not easy. May need a few of us to make it happen but it is definitely possible :-)

That's exactly what I was thinking. I thought it would have to be a rather large order. But I would definitely be interested in helping to achieve this

Very do able, but also quite expensive! WeŽd be in, if things can be arranged before snakeday or doncaster....

As a general rule, an export is going to be about $1000USD, for paperwork and freight etc, plus the actual animals. It's pretty simple to do, but it would not be profitable. Well worth it to add new bloodlines, though.

If I'm honest I'm not worried about it costing money. I don't keep animals for profit. I was thinking more along the lines of early next year. This gives a chance for people to save up disposable money and more people the chance to join in. If enough people are interested it could potentially become rather affordable, as well as adding much needed new bloodlines, or even new species to Europe.

I am getting rather excited by the prospect. We could even possibly start a group breeding project to ensure the new bloodlines are well used.

If that's the case, I don't see any reason why there should be a problem.

Well let's see how many people would be interested first. Would anybody from the UK be interested in taking part in a large group order of garters from America?

find an importer, someone who can get the animals into the UK, thats the first thing....those people will know exporters that will get the animals out of the US.....as long as you have the cash, like it was stated above, its gonna be about 1000 just for shipping. I like to deal with a guy in Holland and hope to continue so Im gonna apply for the paperwork so i can import/export myself...itll save me money and it could make me money on the side:)

I think it's easer to import them in to holland than uk also I think they will be more interest in ordering and splitting the cost as garters are much bigger in Europe than uk.

That is starting to sound like a more viable option. What is it exactly that your interested in ordering in yourself?

I started thinking about this a few days ago and thought it would be nice to get some new bloodlines in.
Hello Mr. Noname,

my Florida blue bloodline is clean and fresh. My females are F2 and the male is a fresh Wild Import from Floria from a our local Importer.

I mated him to one of my females and this time it looks good. If you want I can let you know when the babys are born. Coming to Germany to pick up some of them is much cheaper than making a Import from the States.

Regards

Konrad
