Preferably another northern garter snake.
Speaking of which, you wouldn't have a picture of your snake? Northern garter snake can mean a whole lot of different species. I've seen it being used for northwestern garter snakes, red-sided garter snakes and plains garter snakes, and there's always a possibility that it's a northern ribbon snake.
Or maybe I'm just confused. ;)

Welcome to the forum:)
Indeed it's best to breed with the same species, keeps the bloodline's clean.

Hi Chris, and welcome to the forum. I agree with others...breed it with a specimen of the same species/sub-species.
To learn how to post pictures into a thread just follow these simple instructions.

if the snake you got is the one in the pic on your avatar.....you will need a checkered garter to breed with it...that one is a checkered....
