Hey guys, earlier today I decided to completetly redu my snakes habitat. The question i have for you guys is if I use newspaper should I rip it up or just lay it down? I have only had the snake for 2 days so it is not attached to the old habitat yet. thank you.

I use paper towel in a few of my tanks right now. I don't shred anything, just lay flat. Place some hides in the enclosure with the snake, many different things from inside your house could be used for this, no need to purchase anything for now. Some of the best things I've tried are a children's shoe box turned upside down. Tear an access hole for the snake to get in. A tissue box could work as well, I cut it in half to trim it down as far as height and your access hole is done for you.

You should just lay it flat and also try not to use newspapers with colors. Bad thing about using newspaper as a substrate is that you would have to change it pretty often, it's not very absorbent and it doesn't do anything about the smell.

Do you have a heat source in use?

I am getting a heat or basking lamp today like probaly within 3 hours and mice. What do you think would be the best set up for it?

Mice? I would suggest frozen pinky mice, not full grow mice.

A couple of fake plants might be nice for the snake. My snakes like them.

Might I also suggest a bigger enclosure for her if possible...what size tank do you have her in? It looks like a 10 gallon. I would go for a 20 gallon for a snake that size...she needs plenty of room to explore. Also, make sure the lid is very secure.

Sounds good. Just make sure the enclosure has a secure lid. When she is restless she will try to get out. :)
