My Gabby went down to the laundry room to get one of those collapsible hampers.
She came up with the hamper and showed me what was inside.
This beautiful female T.radix (Plains Garter) entered the hamper through a small tear in the mesh(See photo) then couldn't get out.
Silly little scrub.:D

Is this an escapee? Or a new wild arrival?

Okay that made me laugh, silly snake. Garters get into more trouble than a toddler it seems.

Chris and Char will be the judge of that in the next few years.:D

She is gorgeous! Will she be staying at the ranch spa or did you let her outside?

This has been a strange year. Late Fall is my best time for wild snakes in the basement.
Not this year. Not sure why I have so many volunteers/visitors.:D

How do they get into your house?

I know their two secret doors. Most of the time they stay off the floor but this year is different.
In one location they can enter the house and rest above a false ceiling. The other one is near the den location.

In the same way that they leave pheromone trails to den sites, there is a big pheromone trail leading to the T.Radix Ranch.

I usually find many garters in my basement...but I have found none this year. Okay...usually my housekeeper who is terrified of snakes finds them...and comes running upstairs screaming "Bibura Bibura!" (snake in Mexican)...rofl.

Glad you guys found her...and just for the record...my nine-year-old son still manages to get into more trouble than any of my snakes....lol. In fact, my snakes are the most well behaved of all of my pets. One more reason to have snakes!
